✍🏻 Wow! Check out Staci Hart’s new cover for Coming Up Roses! I loved this story and so will you. ✍🏻

Coming Up Roses, the first in Staci Hart’s Bennet Brothers, has a new look! What do you think?

Everyone hates parts of their job.

Maybe it’s the paperwork. Maybe it’s the day-to-day grind. Maybe it’s that client who never knows what they want or the guy who always cooks fish in the microwave.

But not me. I love every corner of the Longbourne Flower Shop, every flower, every petal, every stem. I love the greenhouse, and I love Mrs. Bennet, my boss. I love creating, and I love being a florist. I don’t hate anything at all.

Except for Luke Bennet.

The Bennet brothers have come home to help their mom save the flower shop, and Luke is at the helm. His smile tells a tale of lust, loose and easy. He moves with the grace of a predator, feral and wild. A thing unbridled, without rules or constraints. When he comes home to save Longbourne, I almost can’t be mad at him. Almost.

He doesn’t remember that night I’ll never forget. That kiss, touched with whiskey and fire. It branded me like a red-hot iron. But it meant nothing to him.

Everyone hates part of their job, and I hate Luke Bennet.
Because if I don’t, I’ll fall in love with him.

Grab your copy of Coming Up Roses today, available now on Amazon in Kindle Unlimited! Gilded Lily, the second in the Bennet Brothers series, is coming December 5th!

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

Nothing about being a librarian prepared Thuy Nguyen for such a wide variety of casseroles. Or life in a small town. Or becoming a farmer.

But what can she do when her catastrophe-prone best friend begs her for help? After all, Maddy has always been there for Thuy. It’s time to return the favor.

It’s simple really, all she has to do is: learn everything about farming ASAP, save her BBF’s family business from disaster, and avoid being caught staring at Maddy’s biker brother, and his muscles, and his smile, and his soulful, sexy eyes.

Oh yeah, and she should definitely not fall in love with him.

Easy, right? . . . Right.

‘Prose Before Bros’ is a full-length contemporary romantic comedy, can be read as a standalone, and is book#3 in the Green Valley Library series, Green Valley World, Penny Reid Book Universe.

Excerpt

“Tell me: what kind of books do the men you sleep with read?”

She blinked. Not what she expected him to say. She felt herself smile, slowly. “It’s not like I have a required reading list,” she said, then paused. “Although now that you mention it, that’s not a bad idea.”

He chuckled. “Probably classics, or ‘literature’, or whatever smart people read,” he said, and there was a note of self-deprecation that somehow broke Thuy’s heart. She quickly shook her head.

“I don’t read a lot of lit fic — nothing too snobby,” she said. “I mean, I don’t just read literature or classics, although I appreciate them. I read lots of genre fiction, too. Romance, sci-fi, fantasy, mystery, thrillers. I think it’s important to read outside of your comfort zone: different authors, different experiences. I have comfort reads, too, but I… well, if you hadn’t guessed, I read all the time,” she finally said, as she realized she was rambling.

He was staring at her like she was something brand new, something he’d never experienced before. She felt embarrassed, and quickly finished her drink.

“You know,” he said, his voice tinged with amused surprise, “I don’t think I’m as passionate about anything as you are about books.”

She let out a half-laugh. “They are my favorite thing ever. They gave me a place to go when my life was shitty, and they have continually given me a reason to get out of bed in the morning. I read every single day. They’re my lifeline.”

“Now I envy you,” he said, and she got the feeling he wasn’t just bullshitting her — he sounded like he meant it. “What do you think a guy like me should read?”

She felt warmth, and it had nothing to do with the amaretto she’d consumed. This was the sort of challenge she loved. She scooted a little closer, so they could talk over the music without yelling. “What kind of movies do you like? What kind of stories?”

By the end of their talk, nearly two hours had gone by. She found out he liked adventure stories, and that he liked stories with justice and questionable heroes and things that had puzzles. She could think of several books, across several genres, and started to list them all.

“Whoa, whoa,” he said, holding up a hand. “I’m not going to be able to remember all of them. Which one of those is your favorite?”

She paused, thinking about it. “For a true book junkie,” she said slowly, “that’s like asking ‘which one is your favorite child?’ or ‘what appendage would you like to keep?’”

He laughed, and she smiled back at him.

“But, based on what you’ve told me,” she said, “I’d say The Name of the Wind, by Patrick Rothfuss.”

“Okay.” He nodded. “I’ll read it.”

She must’ve looked skeptical, because he chuckled.

“I mean it. I’ll give it a try.”

“It’s like seven hundred pages long,” she warned him.

His eyes widened, then he shrugged. “Okay, it may take a little while. But hell, I’m game.”

“Why?”

He was silent for a long moment, staring into her eyes. She squirmed as the heat from his gaze seemed to seep into her very bones.

“Do you really not know?” he asked, so matter-of-factly that she felt like an idiot.

He’s volunteering to read a book for you.

She felt heat suffuse her cheeks. That might be the single sexiest thing a guy had ever offered to do for her.

Books in the collection:

Loving Kalvinstandalone friends-to-lovers second-chance romance

I knew it would end in disaster, but I didn’t listen to reason. I didn’t care. Because I loved him so much.

Kalvin Kennedy ruled my heart.

Until he destroyed it.

Shattered it so completely that I became someone else. Someone I loathed. Someone who repeatedly lied to her loved ones.

So, I ran.

From him. From myself. Desperate to hide my new reality.

But I could only run so far.

Saving Bradstandalone enemies-to-lovers romance

I need to escape.

To put as much distance between me and that monster so I can start living my life.

Yet, even the vast Atlantic Ocean isn’t enough to sever the connection. To allow me to forget how he’s ruined me. His hold is more than just physical. He has a vise grip on my head and my heart, and I can’t breathe, can’t think, can’t function.

So, I do everything to blot it out.

Until he reappears in my life.

Brad McConaughey. So hot. So infuriating. So in love with my best friend.

Every word out of Brad’s mouth makes me want to throat punch him or kick him in the nuts.

But he makes me feel, and I hate him for it. A part of me might actually love him for it.

Seducing Kadenstandalone forbidden romance

When I was a little girl, I dreamed of falling in love. The all-consuming sweep-you-off-your-feet kind of love I swooned over in movies.

It didn’t take long for that fairytale notion to come crashing down around me. Now I’m trapped in a marriage I despise with no way out.

The only light in the dark is Kaden Kennedy—the one true love of my life. He doesn’t know he is, because I’m forced to love him from afar, condemned to toss and turn at night, crying over everything I want and all I can never have.

Seeing him day in, day out, destroys me, but there’s no other choice; I had to push him away to keep him safe.

Because if my husband ever finds out I’m in love with one of my students, I won’t be the only one in danger.

Forgiving Kevenstandalone second-chance romance

They say you never forget your first love, but I’m determined to prove Keven Kennedy is just a random boy from my past.

It’s not like I still think about him after all this time. Or daydream about how hot his kisses were and what it felt like to have his hands on my skin.

Nope, that’s not me. I’m in a happy place in my life. Engaged to a great man and finishing the last year of my photography degree.

But since I returned to Massachusetts, everything reminds me of the boy who ripped my heart to shreds. Especially when my fiancé’s constant business trips, and dwindling attention, raises old fears to the surface.

And then the unthinkable happens—Keven saunters back into my life, turning it upside down once more.

It’s ironic he thinks he’s protecting me when the only one I need protecting from is him.

Can I ask you a question?” I ventured, the wind blowing my hair all around my face.

“If I say no, will you ask it anyway?”

I thought for a moment as I gathered it over one shoulder. “No. I won’t. Because it’s personal.”

He exhaled. “Go ahead and ask. There’s not much I don’t tell you.”

“You might not want to tell me this.”

“For fuck’s sake, Sawyer. Just ask already.”

“Okay.” I bit my lip for a second. “Why haven’t you ever tried to kiss me?”

He didn’t answer. He didn’t even look at me.

When a five full seconds had passed—which felt like five years—I got nervous. “Never mind. I shouldn’t have asked. It’s a stupid question, and the answer is none of my business. Obviously, you’ve just never felt that impulse or you’d have done it. And that’s fine, it’s totally fine. I don’t know what’s going on with me. I think I’m just feeling bad about myself, and I—”

He moved so fast, I didn’t even see it coming. One second I was sitting there gripping my hair over one shoulder, burning with humiliation and wishing a hole would open up in the sand and swallow me, and the next I felt his lips on mine, his hands on either side of my face.

My pulse went haywire as the shock and thrill of his kiss moved through me like lightning. His mouth was warm and firm, and covered mine completely. His lips moved with slow, strong confidence, and his tongue sought mine with hungry strokes. I couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think, couldn’t even kiss him back. My hands remained wrapped around my hair as heat pooled at my center and my mind spiraled with happy, dizzy, unimaginable excitement. A small sound issued from the back of my throat—a gasp for air, a plea for more, a cry of blossoming desire.

Suddenly Noah let go of me, breaking the kiss, and I fell back on my elbows in the sand. I hadn’t even realized he’d been holding me up. I blinked at him as the wind whipped my hair around my face again.

 “Fuck,” he said. “I’m sorry.”

I shook my head. “No, don’t be—”

“I don’t know what I was thinking.” He jumped to his feet and moved a few feet toward the water, readjusting his cap. Renzo came running over with the stick again, but Noah didn’t throw it.

For a few seconds, I just lay there on my elbows, staring at Noah’s broad back and trying to figure out what the fuck had just happened. Last I could remember, I’d said something stupid and embarrassing, and he’d gone silent. Then all of a sudden, his lips were—

I closed my eyes as my core muscles clenched. God, he was a good kisser. Even better than in my fantasy. And I loved the way his hands had grabbed me that way. Possessively. Hungrily.

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 5 ⭐️ Review: Max Monroe’s The Billionaire’s Forbidden Little Sister ✍🏻

Overall Grade: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

There is one guarantee when reading a Max Monroe rom-com. It is a standing guarantee in almost every one of their books: you WILL belly laugh or laugh so hard that your drink of choice will spray forth from your nose or mouth. And it’s true. It is also very true of their latest release, The Billionaire’s Forbidden Little Sister. While reading this lovely tome, I decided that a list was in order. What are all the reasons that The Billionaire’s Forbidden Little Sister is worth your time, money, and general health, so here goes:

*The Billionaire Book Club is still in session, and it comes with Thatch and a gavel, a silent Quince who may or may not be real at some point, and more Thatch and Cap tomfoolery.

*A Bruce Willis sighting…no, not THAT Bruce Willis. The one who owns a flower shop in Chelsea.

*A new cast of characters who rival Thatch and Cap in their zaniness: Grandpa Merl who has a penchant for inappropriate Facebook posts and Brogan aka Bro, Theo’s older brother. First, we had Thatch, the master of eccentricity and inappropriateness. Then, we gained Caplin Hawkins. Now, Max Monroe has created Brogan, replete with a piratical eye patch, some well-placed bubbles, and a bathing robe or velour tracksuit as his fashion choices. He finds his place nicely in the realm of over-the-top Max Monroe characters.

*Compassionate Cap. It brings a tear (and maybe a few more) to your eyes.

*All the words. Max Monroe are craftswomen of wit. Seriously. From quoting UB-40 lyrics in their introductory note to phrases like this one: “…but I’m starting to wish someone would put this drunken baby in the [freaking] corner” or “It’s like Mary Poppins’s bag of theft back there” with regards to Lena’s friend, Pippa. Each word and phrase is a comedic pearl or a keen moment of wisdom. Kline Brooks still offers his wise counsel in all things love, Thatch and Cap are still arguing over the ownership of the book club, and Wes is still trying to worm his way out of it. Max Monroe’s words bring life to their stories. I’m always amazed at their ability to intertwine comedy with romance in a seamless way. It’s some of the wittiest writing I’ve read in romance, and The Billionaire’s Forbidden Little Sister is no different.

*Theo and Lena. As your hero and heroine, these two are sweet. Theo, Mr. Serious, needs fun in his life. He has been an “all work and very little play” guy. Lena is working to add more structure and focus to her life. In Maybe’s story, she plays the part of wise friend, and that still exists in this one as she instructs Theo in the ways of balance. Their personal strengths transform the other’s life, and it suggests that the best of couples balance each other. I found their coupling sweet and passionate.

*Finally, this book is so pro-woman. Honestly, this is a common trait for a Max Monroe book. Even though the titles of the book suggest these books focus on men, that isn’t entirely the case. What we find are men who empower women, who advocate for their success and equality. This is most clear in TBFLS when Theo espouses his belief in Lena. He has no interest in detracting from her career journey. Instead, he’s most interested in providing her support. This is a message repeated often in this story. The contrast to this message is Lena’s mother, Vicky. Interestingly enough, she is the most villainous character in this book. Max Monroe are suggesting here that we should listen to the wisdom of Theo about the empowerment of women over the staid out-dated musings of the meanest person of the story. From this reader, I loved this pro-woman message. It’s timely and necessary, even in these times.

When you open a Max Monroe book, you open a veritable treasure of humor, passion, romance, and seriousness. You get a little bit of everything. The characters are loveable, the stories tickle your funny bone, and their endings make you sigh with contentment. The Billionaire’s Forbidden Little Sister is no different. It’s another notch on the bedpost of Max Monroe’s success as two of the funniest writers in romance.

In love and romance,

Professor A

“Juniper Spearman, what the fuck are you doing here?” I hear Jackson’s voice and there’s a loud banging on the door. “June, open up. I know you’re there, open the fucking door.”

“Who is that?” Sterling asks, gasping for breaths.

“June, I can’t stop him for too long.” I hear Alex’s voice. “Open up, Junie bee.”

I grunt. “My brothers,” I say, untangling myself from him. “Are you ready?”

Ever since we were kids, Jack has always known when I borrow his things without permission. I knew going into his garage might trigger some camera. He has a tight security system. To top it all, I stole his Internet connection.

But hey, I needed my equipment and a faster Internet connection. Sterling’s slows down when we stream movies.

What’s the best way to keep myself connected while we are lounging?

I hooked up my electronics to his Internet.

It’s Jackson’s fault. The guy always brags about it being so powerful he can connect to it even if he’s hiking a couple of miles away from his property. Well, the geek is right. I’m less than a mile away from his home and I’ve been taking advantage of it.

He’s in the city, after all. He won’t notice until he comes back and hopefully by then, I’ll be gone.

“I thought you had bodyguards to take care of unwanted company,” I growl, marching toward the door.

He snorts. “I’m sure they know and that’s why they’re letting your brothers do whatever they want—to interrupt me.”

We walk to the main door and what do we find?

Not one, but three very annoying Spearman brothers glaring at me—and Sterling.

“Juniper?” Jackson crosses his arms.

“Jackson?” I cross mine too and give him the glare. He might be taller, older, and meaner but I’m not letting him treat me like I’m five years old. “Do I go to your house and bang on the door at odd hours of the day? Mom will be disappointed with your manners.”

“This isn’t your house,” he corrects me. “And it’s three o’clock.”

Sterling surprises me when he says with a firm voice. “It is her house.”

We all turn to look at him. I’m totally dumbfounded by his answer.

“I like you, Spearman, but watch your tone.” He looks at my brother darkly.

“I thought we were friends, man,” Alex says with disappointment. “You’re breaking the bro-code.”

“Seriously, June,” Jason says with a tone of disappointment and brushes some strands of my hair. “At least fake it.”

I open my mouth to protest but stop myself. Saying I look like shit because I’ve been puking all day is going to open the can of worms I want to keep closed for a few more weeks—months even. Maybe I’ll have the babies and tell them about it when they turn four or eighteen.

“Not to interrupt this amusing family reunion, but it’s cold as fuck outside and she’s not wearing a jacket,” Sterling says, pulling me into his arms. “How can I help you, gentlemen?”

“Let’s go home, June,” Jackson orders.

Sterling turns to me, his eyes soft. “Do you want to leave?”

I shake my head.

“You heard the lady. She’s with me,” Sterling barks back. “She’s also not your property to order around.”

Butterflies fluttering and all aside, I compose myself. Because no one wants to speak with a puddle of mush, and say, “I came with him and will leave with him.”

“Mom doesn’t know where you are,” Jackson starts nagging. “She’s freaking out because she went to visit you and your neighbor said you’re out of town. The first thing she did was call me because I’m responsible for you when our parents are out of town.”

“Jason.” I appeal to the one who isn’t as possessive.

“You know I love you and I support you,” he says. “But this wasn’t cool. At least text me your whereabouts. What’s going on with you? I heard you’re selling your company.”

“You took the month off,” Alex adds. “What if I need you?”

“This is so unlike you,” Jackson says frustrated. “I get it from Jeannette but you …”

“Me what, Jackson? Just because I decided to change my life that doesn’t mean I’m a failure. You changed yours, just like Jason did. I can’t search for my own happiness?”

He frowns and closes his mouth tight.
