Well, it’s another Wednesday, which means my SECOND post under the WWW Wednesday meme. The bulk of my ARC reading for the month is almost over BUT I’ve just grabbed two titles, one by Alexa Martin and the other by Alyssa Cole to support black authors. Once I’ve finished these ARCs, I’m DIVING in. So here goesβ¦my first official WWW Wednesday. WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam fromΒ Taking on a World of Words. The three questions to answer are:
1. What are you currently reading?
2. What did you recently finish reading?
3. What do you think youβll read next?
What are you currently reading?
Jolie Vines is a British author who I found a little over a year ago. I’m on her ARC team BECAUSE I fell in love with her Scottish Highlander-esque heroes. She doesn’t write heroes who deny their feelings for their heroines. Instead, she writes heroes who fall deeply and then have to work to woo them. Additionally, her heroines are consistently independent and intelligent. I am 55% into Fallen Snow, and her heroine, Viola McRae, is probably one of my favorite Vines heroines.
Kandi Steiner’s Make Me Hate You just hit my Kindle last night, and I am DYING to dive into it later today. Steiner is one of my top 10 favorite romance authors. She loves writing angsty romance, and there is always some psychology behind the plot of her books.
What did you recently finish reading?
Devney Perry’s Wild Highway was better than the first book in the series, Runaway Road. I am loving this series because a restored red Cadillac is acting as a thread through this book. Perry mentioned in a past FB post that she imagined The Boxcar Children as adults and started writing this series. Gemma, the heroine of this book, is a favorite heroine of mine now.
Lexi Blake’s Charmed ia a book in a many book-filled series. I came into that series in the last third, so I’ve had to struggle to get my head around characters (there are so many!). I’m still confused by it BUT most of that is I haven’t read the former books. That’s another thing on my Someday To-do list. Anyways, I liked Charmed. It’s suspenseful, steamy (there is a BDSM thread in this series), and has a happy ending. I don’t think Lexi Blake is reinventing romance here. Instead, she’s continuing a series that her readers enjoy, so I say “go for it.” I’ll keep reading.
What do you think youβll read next?
If I don’t get anymore ARCs for June, then I am transitioning into learning mode. I have a copy of Robin Diangelo’s White Fragility… and Austin Channing Brown’s I’m Still Here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness that I’d like to finish by July. Plus as I mentioned I’ve got these two to read:
