✍🏻 Heidi Hutchinson’s Key Change is LIVE. It’s a slow burn rockstar romance that rounds out the Common Threads series in the SmartyPants Romance universe. ✍🏻

Key Change, an all new slow burn rockstar romance from Heidi Hutchinson, is LIVE in Kindle Unlimited!

Before Hannah was a 9-5 working, dinner making, homebody, she was Ashton James: a paparazzi-stalked pop star with more enemies than friends.

These days she has one priority: keeping her sister safe and away from the public eye.

Hannah was doing a great job, until the pesky little brother of an ex-fling discovers where she is, and wants her help launching his career.

Now she has to trust Johnny—whom she betrayed in more ways than one—to protect her whereabouts. Johnny may have an infuriating moral compass and the timing of a storybook hero, but is he immune to the temptation of revenge?

Johnny’s focus has always been his music business, and a bad influence like Hannah is the last thing he needs at work, or around his brother.

But some things are too powerful to be stopped. For someone like Hannah, second chances—in life and in true love—don’t exist. She didn’t think so, at least.

Johnny is about to prove her wrong, and being wrong has never felt so right.

‘Key Change’ is a full-length contemporary romance, can be read as a standalone, and is book #3 in the Common Threads series, Seduction in the City World, Penny Reid Book Universe.

Once upon a time, the Vlasta Vipers hockey team was so incredible — on and off the ice — they were almost mythical.

All the other college athletes across the country wanted to be them.

All the chicks who glided into their gazes were excited to bang them.

Their reputation was that of Gods who wore skates instead of sandals.

And thanks to a certain center’s constant leadership on the ice, they are true champions once again.

Captain Patrick Peck lives and breathes hockey, yet one glimpse at his head coach’s loud-mouth, full of life niece who has just moved to Vlasta, and suddenly, he wants more.

More days of watching old TV shows and less days of listening to hockey podcasts.

More nights of hearing her scream his name and less nights of scheduling extra practices.

More memories out of the rink and less memories of only being loved in it.

Will this overly focused center be able to balance hockey and love, or will he be forced to abandon one for the other?

About the Author:

Xavier Neal is a best-selling romance author who enjoys hopping from sub genre to sub genre like a game of Hopscotch she can’t resist.

In between writing, she loves to read (everything from romance to self improvement books), watch movies (old and new), eat too much Tex-Mex (her Chuy’s t-shirt collection is out of control), and watch AHL hockey games LIVE (preferably against the glass whenever possible).

She currently resides happily in Texas with her bearded husband “Lumberjack” and their two fur babies.

✍🏻 April White’s Code of Ethics is one of my favorite stories of this year. If you haven’t grabbed it, what are you waiting for? ✍🏻

“April White writes the kind of books I love to read: romantic but suspenseful, smart yet so consuming. And you’ll love this cast.” – Amy Harmon, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and New York Times bestselling author

Code of Ethics, an all new enemies to lovers romantic suspense standalone in the Cipher Security series from April White, is available now!

Read my 5 ⭐️ review HERE.

There are three things you need to know about Oliver Curran:

1) He’s a privileged playboy who happens to be a code-writing genius

2) For once in his life he’s trying to do the right thing

3) Someone wants him dead.

Dallas is a close protection specialist at Cipher Security whose bodyguard skills have already saved Oliver’s life once. But when the assassin gets too close to her uncooperative client, Dallas takes the party boy away from the city where he’s the social king, to the Yukon wilderness where she’s a master of survival.

If Dallas has to put her life on the line for a self-absorbed guy she doesn’t respect, then Oliver has to take orders from the too-serious woman he can’t charm. But living wild brings out their true natures, and suddenly funny is hot, capable is dangerous, and trust is the strongest survival skill of all.

‘Code of Ethics’ is a full-length enemies-to-lovers romantic suspense and can be read as a standalone. Book #3 in the Cipher Security series, Seduction in the City world, Penny Reid Book Universe.

Excerpt

“Is there something else I can help you with, Mr. Curran?”

“Oliver,” I said automatically, my eyes still looking in the direction Quinn had gone.

“Excuse me?”

“My name is Oliver,” I said, my eyes finally meeting hers, and I dug for my nicest-guy-in-the-room default. “Yours is Dallas, right?”

“Correct.”

She started walking toward the elevators again, and I couldn’t think of a reason not to follow. I assumed it wouldn’t get me anywhere to go after Quinn, and Dallas seemed to be the only one who cared that I was still in the building.

“Proprietary tech is the only game in the marketplace right now. If my code leaks, my program turns into the equivalent of generic drugs—worth pennies instead of millions.”

We’d reached the elevators, and she turned to face me. I was surprised that she wasn’t taller, because her vibe was all ferocity and overbearing disapproval. “You didn’t ask for my opinion, but I’m going to give it to you anyway,” she said.

Of course she would. Women like her couldn’t help themselves. They had to be right—all the time—out loud. I sighed, too exhausted to bother to dig up more charm for her.

“Millions are just zeroes and ones in an account,” she continued. “This is your life, and I think the Russian will do a lot worse than try to knife you if he manages to catch you alone.”

I’d just hit the button, but I whipped around to face her. “The Russian? What are you, partners?”

The woman almost rolled her eyes at me, and I was glad to get a rise out of her. It was way more fun than panicking, which was my other option.

“I heard him swear in Russian,” she said in a voice that was back to ice queen inflection.

“You speak Russian,” I scoffed.

“Enough,” she said. The elevator doors opened behind me, and Dallas reached a hand past me to hold them.

“What did he say, then?” I asked. She took a step forward, crowding me back into the elevator.

Ty moy, suchka.”

“Which means?” I asked, taking a step forward when I realized that she’d managed to make me move with just her body language.

She let go of the elevator doors. “You’re my bitch,” she said, and I had to jump back as the doors closed between us.

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 5 ⭐️ Review: Kilby Blades’s Forrest For The Trees, a SmartyPants Romance story ✍🏻

Overall Grade: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

When you get to the acknowledgments of Kilby Blades’s offering to the SmartyPants Romance universe, Forrest for the Trees, you find a few sentences from Blades about the saving grace of Penny Reid’s The Knitting in the City and Green Valley worlds. I think, for those of us who have also lost ourselves in Penny Reid’s infectious stories, we too have felt the ignition wrought from Reid’s stories. Yet, for Kilby Blades, it saved her storytelling. And after reading her book, I am so utterly thankful.

You see, for me, Blades is such an unassuming author in the world of romancelandia, and her stories invoke emotional responses. I still think of her Gilded Love series, a series that more people should read because Blades’s ability to develop characters and take you through twisted plotlines is impressive. This is also found in Forrest for the Trees, book 1 of the Green Valley Heroes books. Her hero, Forrest, and her heroine, Sierra, are developed so thoughtfully that you cannot help but fall in love with their journey.

This story is touted as an enemies-to-lovers story. Interestingly enough, that enemies part is one-sided: Sierra sees Forrest as one of the “good old boys” crafting policy for her beloved national park through their established and dated male hierarchy. As such, for the first third of the book, she struggles with her physical feelings of attraction towards Forrest in contrast to her disdain for his ability to politick. And I felt that. “Playing the game” is commonplace in the workforce, and for those of us who detest the artificiality of it, it’s difficult to work your way through the complexity of these types of relationships. However, when the workplace already has equity struggles (especially for a Sierra, a woman of color who is also from California (an outsider to Green Valley and its surrounding areas)), the artificiality seems elevated. Kilby Blades, a BIPOC author herself, walks us carefully through Sierra’s difficulties without allowing it to be the only theme of her story. I’ve read romances where these discussions are heavy-handed, and they don’t feel organic to the story. But not Blades’s story.

Instead, Forrest for the Trees focuses us on the challenges of nature and wildfires, interracial relationships, personal vulnerability, and even male/female connections. Forrest is the treasure of this book once you stop judging him as Sierra does. When you recognize his abiding attraction in Sierra, and Blades allows him to fully acknowledge what he respects and likes about her, Sierra owns him. Initially, you believe he is everything Sierra believes him to be except that he has an emotional maturity that allows him to patiently wait on Sierra to acknowledge her feelings for him. He respects her immensely, and he believes she is the best at her job. This makes him an attractive hero in Blades’s story.

Finally, the development of the suspense of Sierra and Forrest’s story makes the book a page-turner. That suspense isn’t resolved until almost 90% in, making you rabid for the resolution. Even more, for this California girl reader, I LOVED the allusions to my state with the nod to In-N-Out and our state’s unfortunate penchant for wildfires.

The bottom line: Kilby Blades’s Forrest for the Trees is another incredible Kilby Blades book and another fantastic story in the world of Green Valley. It reminded me, once again, how much I wish I could live in Penny Reid’s Green Valley world.

In love and romance,

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 4.5 ⭐️ Review: Laurelin Paige’s Wild Heart, the final book of her Dirty Wild Trilogy ✍🏻

Overall Grade: 4.5 ⭐️

Trauma, thy name is Wild Heart, a heavy, yet fulfilling ending to Laurelin Paige’s Dirty Wild Trilogy. Ms. Paige did not hold back on meteing out all the things on Cade and Jolie. Unlike the first two books of the trilogy, much of the book exists in the present, affording Cade and Jolie the opportunity to find their happy ending. But, oh boy, there is this shadow that hangs over the story in the form of Jolie’s father. I tend to watch horror movies between the spaces of my fingers, and turning the pages of Wild Heart feels very much the same. After the devastation of Wild Rebel and Wild War, it was imperative to me that Jolie and Cade have a forever together. Thankfully, Paige brings us to that, but reading through their journey feels akin to walking the halls of a Halloween maze or haunted house. You are never sure that they will make it to the end in this book. And it creates this stunning story, one that keeps you edged until the end. There are incredibly sensual moments, but Wild Heart exists to allow Jolie and Cade the space to work through the traumas of their pasts and their relationship. Everyone receives the ending they deserve, but Laurelin Paige makes her readers work for it with this story. As I finished the book, I found myself reflecting back on the men of Reach, and I thought it felt apropos that she ended with the gravity of this book.

There is a lovely surprise after the Epilogue to Wild Heart. I am incredibly excited for it, and I believe die-h\ard Laurelin Paige fans will be too.

If you haven’t yet jumped into Cade’s story, right now is the PERFECT time to read Laurelin Paige’s Dirty Wild trilogy.

In love and romance,

A Moment For Us by Corinne Michaels is now live!

New York Times Bestselling author Corinne Michaels returns to Willow Creek Valley in this stunning surprise baby/unrequited love romance.

I was totally over Joshua Parkerson.

Sure, I had a teenage crush on him way back when–and everyone knew it–but he never saw me as anything but his little brother’s friend, the girl who got tongue-tied any time he walked into a room.

I had long ago accepted the fact that his strong arms would never hold me, his lush lips would never claim mine, and his blue eyes would never see me as anything more than who I used to be.

But now he’s back in Willow Creek Valley, and there’s a brand-new spark between us–even he can’t fight it. Our chemistry is explosive, and every time we’re together, I swear I can feel the earth shake.

It doesn’t mean anything… how could it? I’m over him.

Until I see that little pink plus sign, and the earth stops turning completely.

Now I want it all again, a life with him. But Joshua built walls around his heart for a reason, and his secrets haunt him.

How can I show him that the ghosts of his past don’t have to define our new family’s future?

Fallen Royal by Rachel Van Dyken is now live!

A mafia romance about betrayal and faith by Rachel Van Dyken, the number one New York Times bestselling author of the Eagle Elite series.

“The truth may hurt for a little while, but a lie hurts forever.”—Ryan Bigge

I grew up knowing it would happen one day.

Believing that I would fall into my father’s footsteps and become a monster of my own making.

So I fought it.

I lived.

I loved.

I teased.

And then one day… I destroyed.

And realized I loved the pain.

Obsessed over the feeling.

So I cut again and again and again.

She saw my rage, my madness, and tried to stop me from destroying myself, and I hated her for it, pushing her away past the point of no return.

Izzy Abandonato was supposed to be mine.

But there are some things people can never come back from. I hurt her, she hurt me, and now I’m living a lie. Telling the ones I love that I’m on one side when for years I’ve been forced to play both.

I’m no angel.

I’ve fallen.

And I may single-handedly bring down the Cosa Nostra—by default.

I, Maksim Sinacore, will have my vengeance.

I will win her back.

Even if it means I have to kill everyone in my path.

The pain masks the betrayal.

I never realized that one day—I’d be the very rat that I hated. That I was sent to kill. But once you’re deep in a lie—you’ll do anything to hide the truth.

She fell for the bad one.

She fell for the sinner.

So why does that make me smile?

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 4.5 ⭐️ Review: Louise Bay’s Mr. Park Lane ✍🏻

Overall Grade: 4.5 ⭐️

Louise Bay’s Mr. Park Lane is a reminder that the British hero in romance should be considered a British National Treasure. From the beginning to the end, there is so much to love about Joshua, the next victim of Louise Bay’s series of standalones that center around a male friend group of 5. After Beck, Dexter, and Gabriel falling for their loves in Mr. Mayfair, Mr. Knightsbridge, and Mr. Smithfield, I was ready for Joshua’s story, the representative playboy of the group with a woman on a different day of the week. And Bay doesn’t disappoint with Mr. Park Lane. What she does is take an independent, intelligent, capable, and compassionate heroine such as Hartford (such a cool name for a heroine), and she pours her into Joshua’s soul. That is the only way that you can reform a playboy allergic to relationships. She also takes the space of an entire book to (1) build the trust of her characters so as to show their vulnerabilities and (2) make it possible for friends to become lovers in a way that feels organic, especially to the playboy hero allergic to relationships. With a deft hand, Bay works out their characterizations in ways that allow us to believe this couple, pining for their happy ending. She also makes you fall deeply for Joshua even when he seems completely unreflective about who he is. In fact, one of the best surprises of Mr. Park Lane is the wizened voice of Andrew who has been fairly silent in the last two books. Joshua is the other surprise of this book with his deep love for baths, cake, and spoiling Hartford. It softens him to the reader, allowing you to accept the ease of his interest in Hartford. She is an easy character to love because Bay carefully plots her vulnerability, it only being invisible to Joshua. Add to that her compassion for others, and the reader pines for a happy ending for her. It’s Joshua’s characterization where Bay shows her skill at storytelling.

Mr. Park Lane is ultimately a story about balance. Both Joshua and Hartford pour themselves into their careers to ignore the vulnerability of past hurts. In doing so, they don’t allow anyone to grow close to them intimately. Without the ability to balance work and a personal life, Bay shows us the deficit in their lives, and as they evolve romantically, she shows the true depth of a person when they allow love into their lives. I adored every moment of Mr. Park Lane, and I can only wish that a bath-loving Joshua type would enter my life.

In love and romance,

Professor A
