✍🏻 Who’s ready for more of Adriana Locke’s Landry family? Well, check out the cover for Sweet, the series 6th book, coming February 28th!!! ✍🏻

Title: Sweet

Author: Adriana Locke

Cover Designer: Kari March

Release Date: February 28th

Preorder: https://geni.us/qF0A7uA

Synopsis:

Chemistry is not another word for love.

That’s what my boss, the grumpy single dad with brilliant green eyes, says anyway.

I have my V-card. He’s ten years older than me. I work for him.

Nate Hughes has a million reasons why a relationship between us would never work. Honestly? It’s all a farce.

He can’t deny the sparks when we’re together. His soft smiles, brief touches, and protective behaviors come too easily. And when I need a place to stay? He can’t stop himself from offering me a room—though I’d prefer his bed.

Our forced proximity brings things to a head. Our shared experiences and traumas draw us closer. Our undeniable attraction has us toeing the line between friends and lovers—whether Nate likes it or not.

He’s right—we do have an intense chemistry. But that doesn’t mean that I won’t fall in love with him … even if he can’t love me back.

SWEET can be read as a standalone novel.

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 4.5 ⭐️ Review: Jessica Peterson’s Southern Bombshell ✍🏻

Overall Grade: 4.5 ⭐️

Entering Jessica Peterson’s Southern Bombshell is like tiptoeing into your parents’ house when you don’t want to get caught for staying out past your curfew. You do it with trepidation because you never know what you’re going to encounter. If you’ve spent any time in Peterson’s North Carolina Highlands series, then you have been introduced to her heroine of Southern Bombshell, Milly. You already know that she has been the impetus in the other books of this series for helping her brothers find love, helping them “see” the reality of a situation with all of her ball-busting moxie. You should also be familiar with Nate Kingsley, the oldest son of the family considered the enemy of the Beauregards. This is the Hatfields and McCoys of the North Carolina highlands. What happens when the next in line to the Kingsley whisky business falls for the princess (she really isn’t a princess…but she is the only female in the Beauregard family) of his family nemesis? Fireworks, combustion, the apocalypse? That’s where Peterson’s Southern Bombshell begins for her readers, and the tiptoe, the worry over their ability to find a happy ending, results in a story that captivates you until the very last page.

Southern Bombshell isn’t what you believe it to be. At least, that’s my read on it. I honestly went into this book already a little heartbroken. Peterson teases us with Milly and Nate in earlier stories, and we know going into this one that they have connected on some level and it hasn’t ended positively. We don’t know exactly the situation, but we know it’s softened or changed a usually fiery Milly. On reading the blurb for this story, your heart breaks further if you’ve been reading the other books because you find out that Nate is marrying….someone else, and they’ve asked the wedding planner extraordinaire, Milly, to plan their wedding. Cue broken glass sound for the feel of your heart breaking for Milly. So I entered Southern Bombshell already afraid of the journey ahead, and it was so very, very needless because Jessica Peterson flexes her immense writing muscle, and she crafts a story that, believe it or not, doesn’t have equivalent angst to her brothers’ stories. Honestly. What Southern Bombshell creates is an adoration for one Nate Kingsley. Milly who usually steals every scene she’s in cannot, in my opinion, compete with the deliciousness of Nate Kingsley, and it’s glorious.

Like any of her other romances, Jessica Peterson is intentional with her message here, and like her other books, she has two. One is female positive: she reminds us that women oftentimes believe in “doing” as a representation of achievement. She writes,” I think we put a lot more pressure on women than we do on men to have it together. To keep everyone else happy and put everyone else first and make sure things run smoothly, even if it makes us miserable in the process. […] She’d rather die than disappoint the people she loves.” And this truth’s arrow hit my soul because Peterson is right. She uses the character of Milly to illustrate this, and it takes the peace wrought by Nate, their yin and yang symbiosis, to help her slow down and appreciate the moment without the cost of herself. And that, friends, is an important truth.

Milly teaches Nate another important truth of Jessica Peterson’s story: that setting boundaries as protection from people who seek to harm us is okay. When those same people forge past those boundaries, we can choose to walk away without guilt. This message is where I fell head over heels with Nate. Of the stories in this series, the men are incredibly masculine in all ways, and Peterson creates Nate with an empathic spirit. He sees and provides for Milly in a manner that others cannot. The beauty of this book is his struggle with the almost masculine need to take care of his toxic family at the expense of himself and a more contented future. There is much to love about him: he reads, he’s industrious, he’s careful, and he’s thoughtful. Together, Milly and Nate become an emotional powerhouse in the Beauregard and Kingsley families, and it feels different from the former stories of this series.

If you haven’t grabbed any of Jessica Peterson’s North Carolina Highlands series, start now. If you want to start with Southern Bombshell, you can. Each book has been designed to be standalone, but you will miss out on the richness of the rest of the series before you hit the splendor of Peterson’s newest book. And this one ends so beautifully. Jessica Peterson absolutely surprised me with this one. I went into it, looking through my fingers as one does with a horror film, and I left it with a huge smile and tears of joy in my eyes.

The Wedding Planner’s Rulebook:

Keep the bride happy.

Keep the wedding party out of trouble.

Never let anyone know you’ve been in love with the groom for years.

I lived by these rules. Until Nate Kingsley.

The Capulets and Montagues have nothing on the Beauregards and Kingsleys. Our families have feuded for centuries, and Nate was always forbidden—which made fooling around with him that much more delicious. But then I fell for him, and he fell off the face of the earth, ghosting me without so much as a goodbye.

Fast-forward two years: as an expert in romance, I’m a wedding planner to the rich and famous. I never expected Nate to show up at my office, least of all with a shiny new fiancée on his arm. She’s got money to burn, and she wants me to plan the most extravagant wedding of my career.

It’s a make-or-break moment for my business. I convince myself I can do Nate’s wedding and keep my feelings for him in check, even if he does look good.

Really, really good.

But when the secrets we buried years ago come to light, what kept us apart suddenly binds us together. Even if my heart belongs to Nate, and his belongs to me, he belongs to someone else. And that’s a rule we absolutely cannot break.

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 5 ⭐️ Review: Emma Chase’s Getting Real ✍🏻

Overall Grade: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

I knew I wanted to read Emma Chase’s Getting Real, the third book of her Getting Some series because I adored Getting Schooled and Getting Played. It seems as though it’s been forever since Dean and Lainey’s Getting Played, but this newest story reminded me that any wait is worth it.

This story follows Garret’s (from Getting Schooled) older brother’s story. Connor is divorced, a single dad, and a doctor in the emergency room at the local hospital. He’s also prepared to never find love again. He and his wife divorced, and he has assumed most of the care of his boys, so his life is full. However, he finds himself attracted to Violet, a nurse he works with. Yet, she is younger than him, so he keeps it professional thinking he could never have a chance with her. Violet has been attracted to Connor from the beginning of her tenure at the hospital. She believes he doesn’t really consider her as something more than a nurse at work, though. She is resigned to a friendship with him and never finds love for herself. Yet, Connor’s brothers find out about his attraction, and their wives decide to meddle. Is it possible that Violet and Connor can find more than friendship?

Above anything, oh my goodness, Getting Real is sweet. I hate to use that word because it will cause people to stay away from it. But honestly, there isn’t anything I don’t love about this book. It’s actually a strange story in the sense that everything is easy with Violet and Connor, save for a few moments when Connor becomes oblivious to Violet’s feelings. Yet, as the story progresses, you will ask yourself, what can happen to this couple? They are steamy, loving, and clearly soulmates, and you cannot help but love them together. The moment, though, you think you’ll be bored with them, Emma Chase hits you with a challenge, and the light under the flame of their relationship gets pushed to high. That’s when the lovebirds will show the readers they have the moxie to persevere.

There is a maturity to Connor and Violet’s relationship in Getting Real. There is one moment of game-playing, but that resolves itself well, and Connor and Violet never go back to it. I loved this couple so much that, once I began reading this book, I could not put it down, and it ended much too quickly. If you are interested in reading a couple who fall deeply into love, then this IS your book. Emma Chase’s Getting Real reminds me why I will always read her stories.

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 4 ⭐️ Review: T.K. Leigh’s Temptation ✍🏻

Overall Grade: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

T.K. Leigh’s Temptation is a promissory note. It’s the beginning of a journey that hopes to keep her readers on the edge of their seats. Besides being a promise of what’s to come, it’s a quick nibble, meant to hook and entice. And it does just that.

The story follows Lachlan, an Aussie-born professional American baseball player, who has just found out his sister has died. Distraught, he returns home to Hawaii to process his grief. However, there are questions, and he doesn’t believe her cause of death. With the help of his ohana, his brother from another mother, Nikko, he’s intent on finding some answers. In the meantime, he encounters Julia on the beach where he’s surfing after she was stung by a jellyfish. From the minute Julia and Lachlan meet, they feel this otherworldly attraction. He assists her, and they go their separate ways. Yet, they meet again at a local restaurant. Again, they feel drawn to each other. Later that evening, during the early morning hours, they come across each other again on the beach and share a bottle of wine together. It is then that they can no longer avoid their attraction to each other. Later that day, he comes to her house, and they make the agreement to spend the week together, no strings attached and no personal details divulged. Underlying all of this is Lachlan and Nikko’s investigation into the trauma of his past as well as his sister’s death. When Temptation ends, T.K. Leigh leaves us all on a HUGE cliffhanger.

Temptation is but a beginning. There is an evolving introduction of Lachlan and Julia, but there are definitely details to be revealed. Leigh teases us with a few of them, but there is much much more to come given this is a four-book series. I’m excited about what’s to come. This reverse age gap is sure to bring the angst and the steam if Book 1 is any indication, and Lachlan and Julia’s chemistry already eats up Leigh’s first book.

If you’re willing to be patient for the evolution of the series, jump into book 1. Or wait until the final book and binge-read it. Either way, based on what I’ve read thus far, you won’t want to miss this series. I’m ready for Book 2.

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s More than 5 ⭐️ Review: A. Jade’s The Words ✍🏻

Overall Grade: More than 5 ⭐️

Over the course of the past two days, since I finished an early copy of Ashley Jade’s The Words, I’ve been trying to find the words for this review. It isn’t due to the book and its brilliance. It’s more about the mounting anxiety about finding the right words to express to other readers WHY they should use their time and resources to buy Jade’s newest book.

In a word: choice.

The Words is all about the choices we make whether it be the consequences of choice, the gravity behind the choices we make, or more frankly, the choice to love and be loved or to love ourselves. Strewn throughout her epic romance, Jade pokes at us to consider the depth choice has in our lives. To tell you more about the choices of this book would be to ruin it for readers, so I won’t divulge anything more. Simply know that you are getting more than you expect with The Words.

This book is quintessential Jade: misunderstood main characters, an eroticism that tears through the book at breakneck speed, a cavalcade of feelings that either tear you apart, uplift you, or make you laugh. Phoenix, her hero, and Lennon, her heroine, will imbed themselves so deeply into your soul that, like me, you won’t be able to find the words to express how much you adore this book. This is the norm for Jade’s books, at least it is for this reader. So much so, that I tore through her book, her lengthy romance with all the words, in almost one sitting. She compels you to with a story that ping-pongs between a hero who is more than you expect him to be and a heroine who asks him to be more. Be forewarned…Phoenix and Lennon won’t find their complete resolution until almost the last page, and that, my friends, is what keeps you turning pages, salivating for more, more, more. In fact, by the end, unlike her other books, I simply wanted more of Phoenix and Lennon because that is Jade’s magic in this book.

What I want to ultimately say about The Words is its almost autobiographical nature. If you’ve spent any time in Jade’s Facebook group, she’s been brave enough to share some of her truths. She is unapologetic and has been open in the past. As I encountered the honesty of her book and her characterizations, I saw her. I felt her. I knew she inhabited this book in ways that she hasn’t fully allowed in past stories. Because of this, The Words is a juggernaut of emotion beyond what you might have experienced in other books because you “see” Ashley Jade’s truths in it. For me, this grabbed me hard and held me fast to her book.

Earlier readers than me have called The Words her best book to date. I’m still a huge fan of Ruthless Knight which clouds my ability to say this about this newest offering. However, I think it’s Jade’s most honest romance. It’s real and raw and riotous for sure. And, quite honestly, you would be a fool to pass it up for anything else right now. My only regret about Ashley Jade’s The Words is that I finished reading it. Maybe it’s time to re-read it again.

In love and romance,

Professor A
