✍🏻 4 Star Review: JA Huss’s Sweet Thing ✍🏻

“You’re a sweet little thing, Aria. A very sweet thing.”

Coming off of JA Huss’s book, Pretty Thing, I suppose I was expecting a more angsty, deep story. I am not saying that Sweet Thing doesn’t have its angsty moments, but this book is, instead, incredibly, incredibly sexy.

Synopsis:

Ryker and Aria are very, very different. Aria begins the story as a 17 year old graduating high school student, who turns 18 several days into the story. Ryker is a developer, a thirty-something businessman/drummer. They meet when Aria acts as a house-sitter for her older sister. From the outset, Ryker is drawn to Aria as he has a predilection for younger women: “I want to corrupt her. That’s my sick reason for liking them young. I want to corrupt them.” Unfortunately, he has never dated someone as young as Aria, so he battles with his attraction to her. However, his attraction wins out. On Aria’s birthday, he decides to act upon it.

Aria is drawn to Ryker. On the one hand, she recognizes his age, and she struggles with her attraction to this older man. On the other hand, Ryker ignites an excitement and passion in her. She becomes his “dirty girl,” and the two, who believe it will be a passing fancy, recognize a deeper connection. Sadly, extreme May-December relationships cause problems with Aria’s family, namely her father, who is a potential business associate of Ryker’s. Herein lies the angst and struggle of this story.

I’ll be honest. This book is one sexy fire of a story. Yes, we learn about Ryker’s background, a background that informs his decisions in the story. It’s sad, and your heart breaks a little for him. But Aria and Ryker together is straight up fire. Anything goes in this relationship, and Ryker teaches Aria every dirty thing you can imagine in the bedroom. Even more, Aria becomes an accomplished student at his hand.

One would think that this extreme age difference between the H and h would make for some uncomfortable moments. And it does. However, it isn’t at the level the reader would imagine.

I really did enjoy this book. Ryker and Aria made me laugh and tear up through their struggles. In the end, though, Sweet Thing is a sexy, story of forbidden love gone right.

“She is everything I’ve ever wanted. Young and pretty, sure. Sweet and dirty, yes. But most of all she’s just…mine.”

✍🏻 Cover Reveal Day! Ker Dukey & K Webster’s Share Me ✍🏻

Share Me

by K Webster & Ker Dukey
Publication Date: May 9, 2019
Genres: Reverse Harem Standalone

From international bestselling authors, Ker Dukey and K Webster comes a steamy reverse harem standalone story from their KKinky Reads collection!

They have one job.

Keep me safe.

But none of us are safe against the allure we have when we’re together.

Control and professionalism used to be something they prided themselves on.

But now that we’re secluded and alone, lines blur and control quickly loses to need.

Someone is trying to snuff out my life, but they may not get the chance if I’m devoured whole by my saviors first.

About K. Webster

K Webster is the author of dozens of romance books in many different genres including contemporary romance, historical romance, paranormal romance, and erotic romance. When not spending time with her husband of twelve years and two adorable children, she’s active on social media connecting with her readers.

Her other passions besides writing include reading and graphic design. K can always be found in front of her computer chasing her next idea and taking action. She looks forward to the day when she will see one of her titles on the big screen.

About Ker Dukey

My books all tend to be darker romance, edge of you seat, angst filled reads. My advice to my readers when starting one of my titles…prepare for the unexpected.

I have always had a passion for storytelling, whether it be through lyrics or bed time stories with my sisters growing up.
My mum would always have a book in her hand when I was young and passed on her love for reading, inspiring me to venture into writing my own. I tend to have a darker edge to my writing. Not all love stories are made from light; some are created in darkness but are just as powerful and worth telling.

When I’m not lost in the world of characters I love spending time with my family. I’m a mum and that comes first in my life but when I do get down time I love attending music concerts or reading events with my younger sister.

✍🏻 Happy Release Day, Staci Hart! Well Suited is LIVE Now! ✍🏻

RB banner.jpg

Well Suited, the final standalone in the Red Lipstick Coalition Series from Staci Hart, is available now!

well-suited-illustrated-sm (1).jpg

Chemistry is my love language.

I’ve always been able to separate feelings from chemosignals. A shot of dopamine, a dash of serotonin, and a sprinkle of oxytocin—and bam. You’re in love.

And when egg meets sperm, you’re pregnant.

I couldn’t even be surprised as I stared down at the little blue plus sign, because I knew exactly when and how, and with whom it happened.

When: approximately five weeks ago.
Who: one night stand.
How: prophylactic malfunction.

The upside? I don’t have to go looking for a suitable mate.

Genetically, he’s the cream of the crop. His musculature is a study in symmetry and strength, his height imposing and dominant. He is a man who thrives on control and command, a man who survives on intelligence and resourcefulness. A perfect male specimen.

And the whole package is wrapped up in a flawlessly tailored suit.

I’m having this baby, and he insists we’re well-suited to have it together. And what’s worse? He wants more, in the way of love and marriage.

But love isn’t real. It’s just a product of chemistry.

And if he changes my mind about that, we’re both in trouble.

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey.

✍🏻 4 Star Review: Winter Renshaw’s For Lila, Forever✍🏻

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“It’s like a substantial part of me is missing — and that part of me is her.”

My love for Winter Renshaw began with her P.S. series. She has this way of creating characters that melt your heart into a puddle with their love for each other, even those characters who begin as enemies. Her current book, For Lila, Forever reads a bit different than her previous books, in my opinion.

This is a story of a forbidden, second chance at love. Thayer and Lila, the two main characters, meet on Thayer’s family’s island. Lila’s grandparents work for Thayer’s grandfather on this island, and Lila joins them after the death of her mother. She too becomes a servant for Thayer’s grandfather. At first glance, Thayer begins to fall for Lila. Initially, Lila is wary because Thayer comes from a family of privilege, and that is a life unknown to Lila. Thayer’s grandfather has hung his hopes for the family’s future on Thayer, and his grandfather makes it clear that he is to leave Lila alone. Unfortunately, Thayer sees a strength in Lila and her grief, and he befriends her. He is drawn to her. Likewise, Lila is drawn to them, and over a short time, they fall deeply in love with each other. However, when the summer ends, Thayer must return to Yale. They agree to forgo communicating with each other, as communication is terrible from the island. They commit to each other even in this absence.

The next summer, Thayer returns, and Lila and her grandparents are gone. He is devastated, but refuses to lose hope. He spends the next ten years of his life searching for her, loving no one else. Does he find her? Will she still love him as he loves her? Even more, why did she leave without a trace, without a letter for him? That is the mystery of this story. It is the impetus for charging forward.

Usually, Renshaw’s story’s are decadent in character development. As I mentioned at the beginning, the characters drive a story line that isn’t necessarily offering a new take on a romantic trope. You can’t help but fall in love with her characters, hoping for them to find their HEA. However, For Lila, Forever is different in this sense.

“There’s a gentleness about him, an easiness that I didn’t anticipate. It’s the smoothness of his voice, the way his eyes crinkle when he smiles. He never talks about himself — even during meals. He’s always asking everyone else what they’re doing or what’s going on in their lives. And it’s plain to see he’s the clear favorite among the three grandchildren.”

Thayer is a good guy. We know that, while he grew up with wealth, his father insists in living more simply. Thayer isn’t overly spoiled, and he sees Lila’s grief and wants to help ease her into the life of the island. There is a sensitivity about him. He isn’t a bad guy. Similarly, Lila’s strength comes from being raised by a single mother. She knows who she is, and she doesn’t initially jump into Thayer’s arms, yet she is attracted to his nature. She is guarded for good reason. As a reader, you can’t help but like both of these characters. Yet, they are fairly one-dimensional, not Renshaw’s usual fare. They might be the reason to read the book, but, really, the story is the creative monster of this book.

This story has several twists and turns. Renshaw switches between the past and the present, so we gain the depth of the story. It’s full of secrets that you don’t necessarily see coming, and the ending is perfection, a true HEA. It makes you swoon as Renshaw perfectly creates an emblem of Thayer’s full love for Lila. To be honest, it was my favorite part of the book.

What I struggled with the most in this book is the love affair between Thayer and Lila. As the character development was different in this book, I wanted to understand the reason Thayer was so drawn to Lila initially. We know they make eye contact for the first time and he knows: she is his soulmate. And in romance, this is usually acceptable. However, I’ve come to expect more from Renshaw, I think. I wanted a bit more development of that love affair. There are certain authors whom I’ll accept “love at first sight” and quickly jumping into bed, but Renshaw oftentimes takes us on a more twisty, turny journey towards that end. In this book, I was left a little disappointed by how quickly they come together. Again, I think this book is more about the creative nature of this story, and I easily forgave her for this.

“From the moment I saw her, something called to me. I believe now that it was her soul calling to mine. She’s my soulmate.”

If you love a side of angst with a sweet hero and strong heroine in your romance, then you will absolutely love For Lila, Forever. Winter Renshaw has written a story that captures you and pulls you through Thayer and Lila’s story over time. In the end, you will be fully satiated by their “happily ever after.”

In love and romance,

“When will you turn eighteen?” he whispers into my mouth.
“Sunday,” I whisper back.
“Two days from now?” he asks, still kissing me.
“Mmmm-hmmm,”
I mumble back, thinking if this is kissing I should’ve started doing it sooner.
He pulls away, a pained look on his face. I know he’s going to leave. Right now. He’s going to yell at me for deceiving him and walk right out my sister’s door.
“Oh, God, Aria.”
“I’m so sorry. I really am. I won’t tell anyone if you don’t. Please don’t tell anyone
I brought you up here. My father would be pissed and he’ll drag me home to the
boring suburbs, and my exciting pretend adult life in the city will be over!”
He exhales.
“You’re mad,” I say. “I know you’re mad. And… and I’m bad. I know that. This was bad.
I’m bad. And I probably deserve to go home.”
“No,” he says. “That’s not what I’m thinking about right now.”
“You’re not?” I say, genuinely surprised because if I were him, I’d be thinking that
yeah, this girl has no clue what she’s doing and has no business being left
alone in her sister’s apartment in the city for four weeks.
But thank God, I don’t say any of that out loud. Instead, I say, “Then what are you
thinking about?”
He looks at me hungrily. Like he’s the Big Bad Wolf and I’m Little Red. Like he wants to eat me up in one gulp.
And I look back at him like maybe I want him to do that.
“Two days?” he asks again.
“Yes.” I nod. “I’m meeting my parents for tea at the Corinthian and then we’re going to see that musical everyone’s talking about.”
“God help me,” he says.
“What? Why? I said I was sorry. Please don’t tell. Please,” I beg.
“I’m not gonna tell, Aria.”
“You’re not?” I brighten.
“Not if you don’t,” he says. And that hungry look is back. Only it’s like he’s starving and needs to eat something now. Anything,
even if it’s me.
And to tell the truth, I feel the same way. My body is all tingly and my lips—I reach up to touch them. They feel all weird. His touch lingering. The minty taste of his
mouth still fresh inside mine.
“What are you thinking about?” I ask.
He reaches for me, then steps back without touching. I want him to touch me, I realize. I didn’t intend for that to happen when I brought him up here, but I do.
But I see that he’s about to leave, to walk out and never come back, so I reach for him.
He shakes his head and backs away. “I shouldn’t have kissed you. I just can’t…”
I wait for him to continue, but he doesn’t. So I say, “You can’t what?”
“I can’t help myself. I have to go before I do something stupid.”
“No!” I say, grabbing onto the sleeve of his coat. “Just… wait.”
He looks at me over his shoulder and says, “Aria. If I stay
here another second I’m going to lift up your little skirt, pull down your pink
panties, and stick my fingers inside you until you come.”
My mouth drops open.
“And if you open your mouth like that again, I’ll stick my cock inside it.”
I shut my mouth.
“I’m sorry,” he says, shaking his head. “That was so fucking inappropriate.”
Which it totally was. But it was also totally hot.
“I gotta go.”
And then he does. He leaves. He opens the door, walks through it in a rush, and closes it behind him.
And when I open it back up to call him back, he’s already out of sight. Nothing but
footsteps on the stairs.

About the Book

I’ve never been so stupid in my entire life.

Elise Parrish, my teammate’s incredibly sweet and gorgeous younger sister, should have been off-limits, but my hockey stick didn’t get the memo.

After our team won the championship, our flirting turned physical, and I took her to bed. Then shame sent her running the next morning from our catastrophic mistake.

She thinks I don’t remember that night – but every detail is burned into my brain so deeply, I’ll never forget. The feel of her in my arms, the soft whimpers of pleasure I coaxed from her perfect lips….

And now I’ve spent three months trying to get her out of my head, but I’m starting to understand she’s the only girl I’ll ever want.

I have one shot to show her I can be exactly what she needs, but Elise won’t be easily convinced.

Pretty Reckless, an all-new standalone high school, bully romance from USA Today bestselling author L.J. Shen, is available now!

LJSPrettyRecklessBookCover6x9_MEDIUM

We were supposed to be best friends

But turned out to be worst enemies…

Penn

They say revenge is a dish best served cold.

I’d had four years to stew on what Daria Followhill did to me, and now my heart is completely iced.

I took her first kiss.

She took the only thing I loved.

I was poor.

She was rich.

The good thing about circumstances? They can change. Fast.

Now, I’m her parents’ latest shiny project.

Her housemate. Her tormentor. The captain of the rival football team she hates so much.

Yeah, baby girl, say it—I’m your foster brother.

There’s a price to pay for ruining the only good thing in my life, and she’s about to shell out some serious tears.

Daria Followhill thinks she is THE queen. I’m about to prove to her that she’s nothing but a spoiled princess.

Daria

Everyone loves a good-old, unapologetic punk.

But being a bitch? Oh, you get slammed for every snarky comment, cynical eye roll, and foot you put in your adversaries’ way.

The thing about stiletto heels is that they make a hell of a dent when you walk all over the people who try to hurt you.

In Penn Scully’s case, I pierced his heart until he bled out, then left it in a trash can on a bright summer day.

Four years ago, he asked me to save all of my firsts for him.

Now he lives across the hall, and there’s nothing I want more than to be his last everything.

His parting words when he gave me his heart were that nothing in this world is free.

Now? Now he is making me pay.

Excerpt:

“I don’t want you transferring into my school,” I hiss out. Melody would gladly file a transfer request, and Principal Prichard would salivate over the chance to snatch him up for our football team.

“That won’t be a problem. You guys suck so much ass, you have shit-breath.”

“Still smells better than poverty. You’re poor, right? Your sister was just bullshitting about being rich.”

When someone hits me with a stick, I run over them with a tank. I’m so mean to him I want to throw up. I hate this part of being me. The striking harder at all costs part.

“Just to make things clear.” I put the brush down, batting my lashes. “You’re not my step-sibling, foster brother, or a part of the family. You’re a stray dog. Last of the litter, most unlikely to be adopted, and a charity case.”

Penn takes a step toward me, and my heart is fighting its way out of my ribcage. The closer he gets, the more I realize that my heart might succeed. Penn’s eyes remind me of a snake’s. Mesmerizing, but inhuman altogether. They weren’t like that before.

His scent messes with my head. I want to reach out and caress his face. Kiss his wounds better. Beg for forgiveness. Curse him. Push him away. Cry on his shoulder for what we’ve done. For how it ended. For what we became afterwards, because I’m full of crap and he is totally empty.

We ruined ourselves the day of our first kiss.

Penn looks down at me. Time stops. It feels like the world is losing gravity, falling into a bottomless depth in space when he clasps my chin with his thumb and finger, lifting my head up. I can’t breathe. I’m not sure I want to, either. My towel drops to the floor with a thud, even though I secured it over my chest. I realize that he tugged at it intentionally. I’m naked. My body, my soul, my heart. All my walls are down. Somewhere in my head, a red alarm blasts and my inhibitions are getting armed, ready to fight back. I’m trying to decode his expression. He is amused, irritated, and…playful? The mixture of emotions doesn’t make any sense.

“Mess with me, Followhill, and I will ruin you.”

“Not if I ruin you first.”

An all-new STANDALONE from New York Times bestselling author Julia Kent

It all started with the wrong Help Wanted ad. Of course it did.
I’m a professional fluffer. It’s NOT what you think. I stage homes for a
living. Real estate agents love me, and my work stands on its own merits.
Sigh. Get your mind out of the gutter. Go ahead. Laugh. I’ll wait.
See? That’s the problem. My career has used the term “fluffer” for
decades. I didn’t even know there was a more… lascivious definition of the
term.
Until it was too late.
The ad for a “professional fluffer” on Craigslist seemed like divine
intervention. My last unemployment check was in the bank. I was desperate. Rent
was due. The ad said cash paid at the end of the day.
The perfect job!
Staging homes means showing your best angle. The same principle applies
in making a certain kind of movie. Turns out a “fluffer” doesn’t arrange
decorative pillows on a couch.
They arrange other soft, round-ish objects.
The job isn’t hard. Er, I mean, it is — it’s about being hard. Or, well…
helping other people to be hard.
Oh, man…
And that’s the other problem. A man. No, not one of the stars on the
movie set. Will Lotham – my high school crush. The owner of the house where
we’re filming. Illegally. In a vacation rental.
By the time the cops show up, what I thought was just a great house
staging gig turned into a nightmare involving pictures of me with a naked star,
Will rescuing me from an arrest, and a humiliating lesson in my own naivete.
My job turned out to be so much harder than I expected. But you know
what’s easier than I ever imagined?
Having all my dreams come true.

all his hobbies and don’t reveal that I’m secretly tallying all the
micro-aggressions he’s sending my way during appetizers and wine. And if he
makes it to dessert, well–” I falter.

“You never make it to dessert, do you?” Will asks, eyebrows up. He drops them quickly, wincing.

“I–well–it’s not that I don’t. He doesn’t!”

“He ditches you?”

“No! No! It’s just that he always has a thing.”

“A thing?”

“A work emergency. Or a dog with a twisted bowel. Or a grandma in the ER.”

“How many guys used the twisted-canine-intestine thing?”

“Three.” I sit down and sag against his teenage desk, elbows sliding forward, fingers deep in my hair. “I looked it up. There’s an entire subreddit devoted to inventive ways to get out of a bad date.”

“And yet here you are.” He leans against the edge of his desk. “Trying again.”

“I’m a masochist.”

His eyes gleam. “Maybe you should start your dates with that line. ‘Hi. I’m Mallory
Monahan. I’m a masochist.’ You’d definitely make it to dessert.”
