About SO NOT MEANT TO BE (Coming 6/7/2022):

From USA Today and Amazon Charts bestselling author Meghan Quinn, comes a fresh take on a romantic comedy classic, When Harry Met Sally. This steamy, laugh-out-loud, enemies to lovers romance is about an annoyingly handsome coworker and the woman who refuses to be charmed by him.

Am I friends with JP Cane?

Ha! That’s laughable.

Besides the fact that he’s adopted some far-fetched notion from the movie When Harry Met Sally that says men and women can’t be friends and work together, it’s safe to say we’re not friends. He’s annoyingly loud, obnoxiously handsome, and has made an art out of poking all my hot buttons . . . multiple times a day.

So you can imagine how disgruntled I am when I not only have to fly to San Francisco with him for work, but stay in the same penthouse. Yup, we’re sharing the same air, twenty-four-seven. We’re talking full-fledged working roommates.

The man doesn’t know what it means to wear a shirt, thrives off protein bars, and you guessed it, moans loud enough for people to believe he’s Meg Ryan in a restaurant.

Spoiler Alert: I WON’T be having what he’s having.

Tack on his continuous flirting and his polished good looks, and I’m caught staring down the barrel of a seductive temptation that makes it hard for me to sleep at night.

But guess who can control herself? This girl.

Because if there is one thing I know for certain, it’s that JP Cane and I are so not meant to be.

✍🏻 Andi Burns has saved the best for last. Undeniable is live! Booker and Ian will steal your heart. ✍🏻

Undeniable by Andi Burns is now live!

Undeniable

Some truths are easy to hide. And some are undeniable.

Booker

I follow the rules. It’s what I do. In school, at church, on the ice, and definitely at home. Because if I follow all the rules, and do everything exactly the way I’m supposed to, no one will see everything I’m trying so damn hard to hide.

But he sees. No matter how good I think I am at playing it cool, at staying under the radar (gaydar?!), Ian sees me. It’s like he understands my head and my heart better than I do. And I can’t risk that. I can’t risk letting him see who I really am and what I really want.

Because no matter how much I want it, I can’t have it.

But I can’t escape him, either. All of our friends are coupled up, and he’s the teaching assistant  in my Human Sexuality class. So, the first thing on my to-do list is to drop that class. And the second is stop crushing on the TA.

Undeniable is a full-length M/M romance with a serious jock, a sexy know-it-all, and lots of steam. It is the fourth and final inter-connected STANDALONE in the Bainbridge University Series and it follows Uncovered, Unknown, and Uninhibited. They are all standalones, but for the best reader experience, they should be read in order.

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 4.5 ⭐️ Review: Roxie Noir’s The One Month Boyfriend, book 1 of her new Wildwood Society series ✍🏻

Overall Grade: 4.5 ⭐️

“I felt like you wanted to cut me to pieces and I wanted to let you do it.”

Roxie Noir’s The One Month Boyfriend is unexpected. In hindsight, this is ridiculous because The Hook Up Equation invites speculation about Silas and Kat’s story. You’re probably saying, “ but wait, Professor A, don’t you mean Break The Rules, June and Levi’s book?” Well, maybe, but for me, if I think back to the Loveless Brothers’ stories and consider which one portends the situation of Silas and Kat’s romance in Noir’s newest book, it would be The Hook Up Equation that sets a stage for the depth of emotion found in The One Month Boyfriend. None of this, obviously, has told you a thing about this newest book from Roxie Noir, and honestly, I feel as though this book will be sitting in my mind far into the future as I process its layers.

Where to begin to tell you why this book is much more than you can ever know it to be?

For one, Noir’s style is so darn impressive in this book. There are many instances of beautiful sentences crafted carefully to help us better understand Kat and Silas. This is the type of writing that, as you turn the page and fall upon one of these beautifully carved sentences, you find goosebumps on your arms. This is the type of book that earns that notification from Goodreads about “so and so posted their highlights.” Roxie Noir has created a story here that is, I imagine, difficult to find the words for, so she had to use images to do so, and she does it so very, very well.

This story is about mental health. As someone walking in the shadows of her 21-year-old son’s mental health battle and the mines associated with it, there were moments in the story that felt so real. While I can empathize, and I believe Noir has told Silas and Kat’s stories in such a way that you can understand their trials more easily, I can only imagine the difficulty in doing so, but I believe Noir has done this beautifully. She did not take it easy on Silas and Kat. In fact, much of their story is about them navigating those mines I referred to previously. And honestly, this can feel frustrating for a romance reader who simply wants to escape into a story where a hero and heroine fall madly in love, have $ex, fall more deeply in love, and live a happy ending with a wedding and 2.5 children after that. But that isn’t this type of romance. Don’t get me wrong. There is a power in the love between Silas and Kat, and it’s beautiful and messy as well. There is an underlying idea here that the deepest of loves allows us to love the imperfections in the other. Roxie Noir doesn’t hold back in that message as she piles life on her main characters, yet she offers them a happy ending that matches the character of their relationship and it seems poetic to this reader.

There were moments in The One Month Boyfriend that felt disjointed. Normally, I would call that a negative, but honestly, it seemed intentional to me. I’d like to think that Noir used this as a way to underscore the challenges in Silas and Kat’s lives. I’d like to believe that this is her genius, and I’m fairly certain I’m right. If you’re like me, and you’re always looking for a romance story that is just “more,’ then you should buy The One Month Boyfriend. I believe you’ll find a story about the resilience and fortitude of love in the face of our imperfections.

✍🏻There is something special about Roxie Noir’s The One Month Boyfriend. If you love a fake relationship romance with some hate-to-love banter, then this one’s for you. ✍🏻

It’s a simple enough agreement: for one month, Silas Flynn is my boyfriend of convenience.

The One Month Boyfriend, an all-new fun and hilarious fake-relationship rom-com from bestselling author Roxie Noir, is live now!

It’s a simple enough agreement: for one month, Silas Flynn is my boyfriend of convenience.

He needs his old-fashioned boss to think he’s ready to settle down.

I need some arm candy to prove to my jerk ex-fiancé that I’ve moved on.

Perfect, right? Except for one minor detail: we can’t stand each other.

Everybody thinks he’s this perfect guy, but I know the real Silas. He’s a cocky, obnoxious jerk who thinks he can charm his way out of trouble and get anything he wants.

But there’s one tiny problem with fake dating: it looks a lot like real dating. Worse, it feels a lot like real dating.

I know once this is over, we’ll go our separate ways. No matter the smoldering looks he gives me, the possessive way he touches me, or the dirty things he whispers in my ear, Silas isn’t falling for me.

That’s fine. No matter how good being with him feels, I’m not falling for him, either.

One month. That’s it.

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 4.5 ⭐️ Review: Stacy Travis’s He’s A Keeper, book 1 of the San Francisco Strikers series ✍🏻

Overall Grade: 4.5 ⭐️

Stacy Travis’s He’s A Keeper is an apt reminder of her capacity for writing a contemporary romance that engages its reader. As the first book of a new series, this story draws you in from its prologue with the hero, Holden, who is publicly and humiliatingly dumped. Talk about a hook to engage a reader in the story.

Chapter 1 begins two years later, where we find Holden sworn off women and living his life for his sport: soccer. He’s eschewed relationships and decided to focus on making his dream come true: being chosen for the Premier League in Europe. Unfortunately, he injures himself, and his dream is put on hold as he recovers. With too much time on his hands, he needs connection, so he spends time with his niece at the local library. There, he meets Molly, the quirky, beautiful children’s librarian who, we find, feels uncomfortable with reading to the children.

Molly holds down two jobs: one as a librarian at a private school and the other as the children’s librarian at the public library. Unfortunately, her second job is on the line to be cut if she doesn’t find ways to bring people to the library. When she meets Holden and determines he’s a great partner with children’s storytime, she asks him to help her. Unbeknownst to her initially, she doesn’t realize he’s a famous professional soccer player. At first, she sees a man trying to forgo his responsibility to his niece. With a gruff exterior meant to dissuade others from attaching to him, Molly begins to see something more in him. She starts to feel an attraction to him which she fights because her past, like his, is also complicated. Unfortunately for them, but thankfully for Travis’s readers, these two cannot help but begin to fall for each other. However, the future holds complications. Will they find their happy ending?

As a beta-reader for Ms. Travis, I found myself gobbling her manuscript in a little over a day. With the exception of some story issues, Holden and Molly’s chemistry draws you further into He’s A Keeper. The complications of their pasts and the actions they take to forgo falling for each other becomes child’s play to the love that develops between the two. Travis deftly balances their progression of characterization with the spiciness of romance, keeping you engaged in her story.

There is a certainty to Stacy Travis as a writer. The ease of her style along with her indelible story pacing ensure that future stories are must-reads. As for this reader, I cannot wait for book 2 of her newest series, San Francisco Strikers. He’s A Keeper had made me a fan of Travis’s sports romances.

✍🏻 Do you love yourself a soccer romance? The grump-sunshine one of your favorite tropes? Then, you should grab Stacy Travis’s He’s A Keeper, available NOW! ✍🏻

Can the grumpy soccer star score the good girl?

He’s a Keeper, an all-new fun and steamy, opposites attract, grumpy-sunshine sports romance from Stacy Travis is available now!

Drunk-texting a grumpy soccer star?
Best worst decision of my life.

Especially when the player is the sinfully handsome, foul-mouthed Holden Sanders… my new library assistant.

The benched bad boy needed an image makeover, I needed to save my job, and his star status was just what the library ordered to raise awareness for our fundraising campaign. The press can’t get enough of Mr. Growly reading to kids.

It’s win-win and completely platonic.

Until I need a shoulder to cry on after drowning my heartbreak in too many margaritas. I only typed that invitation to his brawny biceps and perfect pectorals for fun–I never meant to hit send. Holden isn’t the kind of guy to care about tears and feelings, least of all mine. He’s made it clear good girls aren’t his type.

But he shows up–with his strapping shoulder, a box of tissues and a supersized bag of Doritos.

That’s when I realize there’s more to him than meets the eye.

One soulful, smoldering mistake of a kiss has me craving more, and the heat between us quickly builds to a blaze neither of us can control.

But I’m not the only one guarding secrets, and Holden’s might push us to the breaking point.

Even if I’m surrounded by books, I know better than to believe in storybook endings.

And yet, I want to believe… Because I know he’s a keeper.

About Stacy Travis
It’s a rough world out there, and we all sometimes need a good, romantic beach read, even if we can’t make it to the beach. I’ve spent many lazy days walking the streets of Paris and other gorgeous European cities, and if I’m doing it right, I’m bringing you a dash of romance and a vacay fantasy.
I can’t sit still, so when I’m not hiking, biking or running, I’m playing a very average game of tennis. Background music for writing undoubtedly features some U2, Lizzo, Billy Joel, Pink, Taylor Swift, and Led Zeppelin. Not necessarily in that order. And if I could only eat one food group, it would be cheese. Or wine. Or bread. Are those food groups? Whatever.

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 4 ⭐️ Review: Ella Frank’s Wicked Flame, book 2 of the Chicago Heat duet ✍🏻

Overall Grade: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Ella Frank’s Wicked Flame, the second book of her Chicago Heat series, burns bright. Unlike the all-encompassing inferno that wrought tragedy in the hero, Jameson’s, life, this book pulses from the beginning to an ending that leaves us with a controlled burn.

Wicked Flame continues where Wicked Heat left off, precarious. At the end of Wicked Heat, we aren’t certain about Jameson and Ryan’s future. Jameson has discovered his sister, and he believes that he isn’t worth Ryan’s time and effort. However, the true hero of this duet is Ryan. He sees beyond Jameson’s past and recognizes his strengths of compassion and fortitude. As it progresses, Frank draws out a happy ending that holds a depth of emotion. Add to that lots of steam and a little sweetness, and you can’t help but fall in love with Jameson and Ryan’s journey.

Ella Frank’s Wicked Flame entices and draws you further into the halls of its story. Each turn of the page ignites the continued burn of Jameson and Ryan’s story. By the end, you are simply left in the refuse of its fire, and you’ll love every moment of it.

✍🏻 Jameson and Ryan are BACK. Ella Frank’s Wicked Flame is LIVE, and you’ll swoon over their journey to a happy ending. ✍🏻

Love is not just a four-letter word.

Wicked Flame, a steamy, opposites attract MM romance and the highly-anticipated conclusion to the Chicago Heat Duet, set in the beloved Chicagoverse from USA Today bestselling author Ella Frank, is now available!

Jameson
Life is hard. I learned that at an early age growing up on the South Side of Chicago. I accepted it, even came to expect it. With a sister who was a constant source of worry, and a track record of losing anyone even remotely close to me, trouble seemed to follow me no matter where I turned.

Some people were born lucky. I was just born.

That’s what I used to believe, anyway, until GQ. The gorgeous guy in the fancy clothes who for some reason decided to look twice at me. He gave me a place to call my own, a space to feel safe, and he made me believe in the impossible—that love was more than just a four-letter word.

Ryan
Life is unexpected. I learned that just recently when I walked into a bar on the South Side and found the love of my life—Jameson Clarke.

He’s everything I’ve always wanted, and yet somehow even better than I imagined. He’s brave, brash, protective of those he loves, and under all that bravado is a vulnerability that calls to my very soul.

Jameson’s a storm cloud, but he thinks I’m the sun. If that’s true, then I’m determined to break through the shadows of his past and steal his heart the way he’s stolen mine.

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 4.5 ⭐️ Review: Laney Hatcher’s First to Fall, book 1 of the Bartholomew series ✍🏻

Overall Grade: 4.5 ⭐️

First to Fall is the debut novel from Laney Hatcher. A Regency romance, First to Fall is a charming story about two life-long friends who decide to pretend to become engaged as a protection for their futures. With a style that engages her readers easily, Hatcher enchants you with Augie and Emery’s journey into love. For many readers in romancelandia, the friends to lovers trope is a hard pill to swallow. It’s difficult to understand how two people who spend so much time together can move from an undying friendship to undying love. However, Hatcher writes it so well with a heroine who has moxie for days. She’s the partner in their duo who pushes the always buttoned-up Augie to his breaking point. She is the yin to his yang. And she’s clueless. Augie pines for Emery for almost their entire friendship, but, being the ever stalwart gentleman, he hides it for a couple of reasons. Those reasons are the ties that bind this story together. They are the means by which Hatcher makes her story believable.

The true highlight for me of First to Fall is Augie. His character is equal parts adoring best friend and broken hero. His manner with Emery throughout the story is its heart. As a reader, you find yourself yelling at the story, urging him to declare his feelings, but that’s the anticipation that Hatcher wrings out of her romance. Obviously, she must partner him with a ferociously determined, but somewhat clueless Emery. While Augie knows his true feelings, the other piece of Hatcher’s building tension is Emery’s sightless understanding of her interest in Augie. However, she is always protective of him, even when he believes he isn’t worthy of it. Together, Augie and Emery’s progression is a tussle of emotions that eventually find their grand finale at the perfect moment.

Overall, I enjoyed First to Fall. This isn’t a book of fireworks. There is Regency romance spiciness to be found here as Augie and Emery examine their attraction, but their journey is steady with a tinge of tension to keep you engaged. With her easy style and her uncomplicated storytelling, I am most definitely interested in more from Laney Hatcher.

In love and romance,
