✍🏻 Blog Tour and Excerpt Reveal: Emma Hart’s Kiss Me Not, a 4⭐️ Professor Romance read ✍🏻

KMN-BANNER-LIVE

What do you do when you’re the reigning kissing booth champion but the only person you want to kiss is your best friend’s brother?

Kiss Me Not, an all-new hilarious brother’s best friend romance from New York Times bestselling author Emma Hart is available now!

Read my 4 ⭐️review HERE.

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000035_00027]

Let me make this clear right here, right now: I, Halley Dawson, do not care that Preston Wright is kissing other women.

Not a lick. Not at all. Nuh-uh-freakin’-uh.

I do care that he’s doing it six feet away from me behind a gaudy velvet curtain—making him my competition in this year’s kissing contest.

Why do I care, you ask? Because I’ve had an unfortunate crush on the insufferable idiot since I was sixteen years old, but I also know it’s never going to happen.

He’s the Creek Falls bachelor to die for, and I’m the Creek Falls racoon lady who puts peanut butter sandwiches out for them every night.

I’m not going to let him break my four-year-long reign—no matter how many times he breaks the rules and slides the curtain across to do the one thing he’s not allowed to:

Kiss me.

Excerpt:

“I never answered your question.”

“What question?” I darted my eyes to the side.

“Just now. You asked me if I wanted to kiss you.”

I did, didn’t I? Right. “Oh,” was all I said.

Slowly, he moved his hand to my chin and gently lifted it. Still, I didn’t look at him, keeping my eyes firmly trained on the front of the tent, even though I was facing him.

“Halley.”

“Yeah?”

“I want to kiss you.”

My eyes darted to his.

“I thought that’d do it.” His lips twitched, and he lowered his head until I had to fight the urge to close my eyes in anticipation of the kiss that was coming.

I swallowed, my lips parting.

Preston moved closer.

And he kissed my cheek.

I jerked out of whatever trance I’d just been in. “What the hell?”

He jumped off the stage, grinning. “I guess we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to break the stalemate, won’t we?”

“Oh, hell no!” I jumped off, stalking him to his side of the stage. “You just stood there in front of me and told me you want to kiss me, then kiss my cheek? The hell was that?”

His eyebrows shot up, amusement flashing in his eyes. “If I didn’t know better, I’d think you wanted to kiss me, too.”

“Irrelevant,” I shot back. “But you’re a special kind of asshole to tell a girl you wanna kiss her and then not do it.” I turned around, then stopped. “You know what? When I beat you tomorrow, you can kiss my ass.”

“You’re way too mad about this.”

“I’m not mad!” My voice raised a few octaves. “I couldn’t care if you want to kiss me or not. I most certainly don’t want to kiss you.”

“Why are you shouting at me?”

“I’m not—” I was shouting at him. “Whatever,” I said in a normal voice. “Make sure you take that money to the bank. Tell Tish I sent you.”

I left him on his side of the curtain and went to get my purse. He could get fucked. After all that where I think I was so damn nervous I broke a sweat, he didn’t even kiss me.

I wasn’t lying with what I said.

He could kiss my ass.

I’d even wear my good panties and bend over for him.

✍🏻 Blog Tour and Excerpt: J. Kenner’s Tempting Little Tease ✍🏻

She’s a temptation I just can’t resist…

Tempting Little Tease, a sexy, new standalone from New York Times bestselling author J. Kenner, is available now!

Check out my 4 ⭐️ review HERE!tempting little tease_ebook_1707x2500

My business is security. I protect other people—sometimes at my own expense.

It’s the only way to explain how I got talked into playing fake fiancé for my best friend’s little sister.

Now I’m seeing little Samantha Watson through new eyes. Instead of the little girl I used to tease, I’m up close and personal with a stunning woman whose curves and heat and heart-stopping smile rocket straight to my heart, not to mention parts south.

I’ve never minded going above and beyond for a job. Except playing the smitten lover doesn’t feel like acting anymore.

Despite all my experience, I’m the one who forgot to secure my heart.

The only rule for this job was to walk away at the end.

But maybe this time—for the first time—I’m going to break the rules.

TLT quote teaser 1

Excerpt:

I pull open the screen door, knock a couple of times, and wonder if I’ll even recognize her.

A moment later, the door flies open, and I’m staring at Samantha Watson’s wide, happy grin. Her dark brown hair is pulled back beneath a blue bandana, and there’s a white streak of paint on her cheek that makes me think of street urchins. She’s at least three inches taller than the last time I saw her, the top of her head now reaching my chin.

In my mind, she’s still built like a pre-teen fence post, but to be fair, I can’t get any real sense of her figure since she’s wearing a paint-splattered men’s button-down that doubles as a smock and baggy, faded jeans.

I can see her face just fine, though. The same, but different. Her wide brown eyes seem bigger and darker, with the kind of lashes that Cayden’s wife Gracie wears when she’s modeling, but on Sam are the real deal. The childish round face that’s burned into my memories has given way to a perfect oval accented by cheekbones that stand out when she smiles. Something she’s doing right now, actually, and I can’t help but notice that her plump lips and wide mouth were made for smiling. And for other things. Things that I have no business noticing about my best friend’s sister. Not even in passing. Not even casually.

I’m still lecturing myself when she steps forward, obviously intending to give me a hug. And, damn me, I actually take a step back, her lush lips still filling my vision and Brody’s all-too-strict warning still ringing in my ears.

To my relief, she laughs. “I know. Awkward, right? I mean, you were like my brother, but it’s been ages. Probably best to start out with a friendly handshake and work our way up to social hugging.”

She thrusts out her hand, and I take it, noticing how well it fits into mine, and surprised at how smooth her skin is despite the fact that she apparently spends a lot of time working with her hands.

“From what Brody tells me,” I say, “we won’t be stopping at the social hug.”

It might be my imagination, but I think her grip tightens slightly. Not that I have time to analyze the nuances of our connection, because she gently tugs her hand free.

She clears her throat, then steps aside and ushers me into the house. “Listen, thank you so much. I know this whole thing must sound crazy, and I can’t even tell you how much it means to me that you agreed to do it.”

“I didn’t—”

“I know. Brody told me the whole story about how you didn’t want to, but then you remembered how you two pledged to look out for me. And even though I’m old enough to look out for myself now, I really, really appreciate this.”

She pauses, looking me over once more before she shuts the front door and gestures me further into the house.

I hesitate, because this is the moment when I should tell her that I need to leave so that I can go strangle her brother. The guy never could keep a secret.

“It’s not that I didn’t want to help…,” I trail off lamely as she flashes me a crooked smile.

“I believe you. Why wouldn’t you want to go off to Fredericksburg to a weekend wedding hosted by people you’ve never met with a woman you haven’t seen since she was a kid, but now you’ll have to pretend to be her fiancé even though you don’t even know her favorite color?”

“When you put it that way, I must be crazy.”

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 4 ⭐️ Review: Emma Hart’s Kiss Me Not ✍🏻

Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Do you ever get excited to read a book just from the cover? I’ll be honest. That isn’t my usual way of choosing books. If I’d have to rank it, author, blurb, and cover would be my criteria in choosing a book. Part of this is because covers can be deceiving. Well, the moment I saw the covers for Emma Hart’s newest trio of books, I knew I had to read them. They are MY style. Add in interesting story blurbs, and this girl blogger was sold.

Kiss Me Not is a best friend’s brother, somewhat forbidden story. But here’s the thing. The best friend, Reagan, is completely “on board” with the match. Halley, the best friend, and Preston, the brother, have harbored “secret” crushes on each other for some time. However, Halley and Preston never act on their attraction. Instead, they act with some disdain towards each other.

Halley is the reigning kissing booth champion of the local fair. She needs a challenger. Preston steps up to challenge Halley’s reign. Sparks fly between these two. Halley struggles with hearing Preston kissing the other women, and Preston struggles with his attraction to Halley. The rest of the story follows Preston and Halley in their spiral towards each other and a relationship.

There is so much quirky goodness in this story. For one, Halley marches to the beat of her own drum. For one, she loves books and prefers reading at home to spending time out. Secondly, she kind of has pet raccoons. Granted, they don’t live with her, but she feeds them daily, talks to them about her problems, and generally cares for them. And three, many of the ancillary characters are zany especially Halley’s grandmother and Preston’s aunt.

Kiss Me Not is the epitome of a summer read. It’s light-hearted. There is very little angst if any. It’s a rom-com. You fly through reading it because the story is cute. And the characters generally make you chuckle at their antics. It’s a good solid fun romance.

Now, here’s my issue with it. Halley and Preston’s struggle against each other seems ridiculous at times. I’ve read several books in the “best friend’s brother” trope, and they are heart-wrenching for the hero and heroine. This struggle seems a bit manufactured. Preston and Halley clearly like each other, but they fight it for too much of the story. Yes, it’s fun to read. Yes, you cheer them together, but I kept wondering why they couldn’t be together. They tell us that it would potentially endanger Halley’s friendship with Reagan, but that didn’t necessarily ring true. I think their struggle could have been resolved sooner, and they could have jumped into bed more quickly. Physically, these two do a lot of kissing but don’t couple until the end. I don’t have a problem with it, but I think it could have been steamier and less fighting.

All of this being said, I enjoyed this book. I read it in one day (as you should with a fun summer read), and I fell in love with this little town and its people. I am absolutely looking forward to Reagan and Ava’s stories. If you love to laugh, and you love quirky, interesting characters, then you’ll want to read Emma Hart’s Kiss Me Not. It’s the perfect little summer read.

In love and romance,

Professor A

About ABANDON:

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken comes a new story in her Seaside Pictures series…

It’s not every day you’re slapped on stage by two different women you’ve been dating for the last year.

I know what you’re thinking. What sort of ballsy woman gets on stage and slaps a rockstar? Does nobody have self-control anymore? It may have been the talk of the Grammy’s.

Oh, yeah, forgot to mention that. I, Ty Cuban, was taken down by two psychotic women in front of the entire world. Lucky for us the audience thought it was part of the breakup song my band and I had just finished performing. I was thirty-three, hardly ready to settle down.

Except now it’s getting forced on me. Seaside, Oregon. My band mates were more than happy to settle down, dig their roots into the sand, and start popping out kids. Meanwhile I was still enjoying life.

Until now. Until my forced hiatus teaching freaking guitar lessons at the local studio for the next two months. Part of my punishment, do something for the community while I think deep thoughts about all my life choices.

Sixty days of hell.

It doesn’t help that the other volunteer is a past flame that literally looks at me as if I’ve sold my soul to the devil. She has the voice of an angel and looks to kill—I would know, because she looks ready to kill me every second of every day. I broke her heart when we were on tour together a decade ago.

I’m ready to put the past behind us. She’s ready to run me over with her car then stand on top of it and strum her guitar with glee.

Sixty days. I can do anything for sixty days. Including making the sexy Von Abigail fall for me all over again. This time for good.

Damn, maybe there’s something in the water.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

Excerpt:

“You ready?” I gripped my drumsticks tightly in my right hand as the screaming from the crowd pierced my ears, causing an onslaught of adrenaline to pulse beneath my skin.

Drew, one of the leading frontmen for our band, Adrenaline, rolled his eyes and shot me a middle finger. Then he straight-up tugged his leather pants down below his hips to show off his legendary V.

We get it, bro, you’ve got an eight-pack where there’s usually only six.

With a flourish, I pulled off my simple white tee and shrugged. “What? Two can play that game.”

“Seriously, guys?” Will gave me a shove. “They already gave us shit last time about you two comparing dicks. It’s the Grammys, not the Super Bowl. We have to be clothed.”

I eyed him up and down. “Question. Was it your plan to go out there looking like the dad of the group, or was it just a happy accident?” He was in skinny jeans and a simple vintage tee and wore his typical thick black glasses that somehow still got him action from his wife, actress Angelica Greene. It was confusing when Will got action and I didn’t.

Not that I wasn’t getting any.

I inwardly smirked. I was dating one of our background dancers, while at the same time hooking up with one of Zane’s—both of which were performing with us tonight. Hey, it wasn’t like I planned for them to ever meet! And before you get your panties in a twist and start calling me a whore while chanting things like “I pray your dick falls off,” let me explain.

I have a solid reason for dating both women.

You ready for it?

The truth bomb of the century?

I don’t actually have a heart. You see, a long time ago in a land where my innocence thrived—you know, before the mistakes with the drugs, alcohol, and the time I carried a live chicken on stage and kissed it—I was in love.

Real love.

Not the kind where you say it just because you want to have sex with someone so badly, you’re willing to sell your soul to the devil. Twice.

Real, honest to God love.

Her name? Abigail.

Her current status? Breaker of souls and spawn of Satan.

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 4 1/2 ⭐️ Review: Stefanie London’s The Aussie Next Door ✍🏻

Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2

“She’d always known she would marry for love — because her life would have been very different if she’d had love…from anyone.”

The Aussie Next Door, Stefanie London’s newest book, is a story of two unlikely people falling in love in an unlikely situation. Angie, a U.S. citizen, is trying to stay in Australia, the place where she has finally found peace. The problem is the courts don’t agree, and she must leave Australia and return to the country of her birth, much to her dismay. One angle: find a man who will fall in love with her and marry her to keep her in Australia. Enter Jace, Angie’s landlord and next-door neighbor. Jace and Angie are attracted to each other, but very different. Jace, a comic creator,  likes his solitude and routine. Everything has a very specific place in his life. Coming from a large family where there was constant chaos lead Jace to his very exacting life. Add in his being on the autistic spectrum, and routine and solitude are necessary. Unfortunately, his neighbor who is attractive is the opposite. She loves to talk and is generally messy. However, whenever she is around, Jace fixates on her. As the story progresses, these two fight their feelings for each other as Angie tries to find a husband. Eventually, the two cannot deny it, but can Jace fall in love with Angie? Will he marry her and keep her in Australia? Even more, can two seemingly opposites find love?

I was intrigued by this story from its blurb. Opposites attract? Check. Australia? Check. $exy hero and heroine? Check. All of the boxes were checked just in the blurb. Then, I received the book for an honest review, and Stefanie London blew me away for a number of reasons.

  1. London gives us Jace. Yes, he’s handsome. Yes, he’s attentive. But he’s also on the autism spectrum. Obviously, he’s very high-functioning. However, his autism informs his daily living, and this adds a complication to any relationship. For most of the book, Jace doesn’t believe he can actually maintain a relationship. His heart is broken early on by a former girlfriend, and he lives with self-doubt. Jace is not an alpha-hero. He carries a bit of brokenness and self-doubt around, and it causes some of the angst of the story. And I loved this about him. When he finally falls, he’s sweet, cute, and cherishes Angie. His sensitivity becomes his super-power, and the reason I love him in this story.
  2. London then gives us Angie. I am a sucker for broken characters, and Angie is one. Except that she covers it with a smile and a profound love for helping people. Of anyone in the story, Angie should live under a dark cloud. She’s a former foster child. She’s been taken advantage of by the system that was meant to protect her. She’s lived a life with very little love. Yet, she’s the most profound person in the story. She volunteers, brings light into the lives of the seniors and other townspeople, and quite frankly, she challenges Jace out of his comfort zone. “He didn’t want Angie to leave, that much he knew. She made the place brighter. Happier.“ Angie embodies love, even when she has never felt it. Her brokenness comes in her want of it, in her defense in hiding her true self in order to be loved. But it’s Jace who finally fills her love quota to overflowing.
  3. I love the setting of this book. I’m quickly becoming a fan of romance novels found in other countries and continents. I think it exposes us to different cultures, and above anything else, books should challenge us. London gives us the Aussie culture, expanding our understanding of the world. She helps us see the difficulty of staying in a place that feels like home when you’re a foreigner.

The Aussie Next Door was such a pleasant surprise. I hadn’t read Stefanie London previously, but I am intrigued with reading more from her, especially if we get more books in this series. What London has crafted is a story of broken souls: one who thinks he can never be good enough to be loved because he is different and one whose true self has never been seen because she needed to fit in to find love. Together, these two souls are mended by love. And it’s the most beautiful part of this book.

In love and romance,

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 5 ⭐️ Review: Meghan March’s Black Sheep ✍🏻

Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

One of my favorite series of Meghan March’s is her Dirty Billionaire series. There is just something about Creighton Karras. It was exactly what its title promises “dirty.” When Creighton felt betrayed by his best friend, Cannon, I was heartbroken for him because their friendship was everything he needed…until he didn’t.

Now, Meghan March has written Cannon’s story: Black Sheep. And it is a dreamy spectacle of mafia, romance, and intrigue.

Synopsis

This story follows Cannon Freeman and his heroine, Drew Carson. Drew is working undercover to discover her father’s murderer. She intends to find out damning information about Dom Cassio and Cannon, Dom’s illegitimate son, as a way for them to finally be brought to justice for the crimes of their mafia syndicate. She goes undercover as a server in Cannon’s bar/restaurant that serves the “top ten percent” male society in New York. In working undercover, she is hoping to discover the evidence she needs to bring about justice. Little does she know that she would be instantly attracted to the dominant, handsome Cannon Freeman. Her attraction wreaks havoc with her plan. Will she make it out of her undercover assignment alive?

Underlying this story is a story of needing acceptance, along with a mafia storyline. Cannon’s own situation is precarious at best. As the illegitimate son of Dom, there is an unspoken promise that the leadership of the Casso family will fall to him. However, this isn’t an aspiration of Cannon’s; instead, he fights daily to keep his head. Additionally, he mourns the death of his mother and feels that hole in his life daily, while also mourning the loss of his friendship with Creighton. His individual story is as much an important part of this romance as his developing relationship with Drew.

Review:

Like his half-brother, Creighton, Cannon is a complicated hero. At first glance, he is the type of hero who readers fall in love with easily: he’s gorgeous, well-endowed, completely in control in the bedroom and in the workplace, and he loves to save people, especially women. Beyond that, though, Cannon is complicated. For one, he carries a heavy past, and this past, while seemingly resolved, still haunts his present. He lives life in the shadow of his father as Dom has never actually claimed him as his own. Living in that shadow taints his existence and turns his story into one that is more complicated than the average hero.

Even more, Cannon is a true romantic. He romanticizes the past. From the stories of his mother through the relics of his home, Cannon appreciates the things that have been cast-off. In buying buildings to protect his neighbor to buying antiques from flea markets, he cherishes other’s “junk.” You can’t help but see how March is playing with the idea of Cannon cherishing castoffs as he embodies that in the story. March has written him so well that, for me, he is THE best part of Black Sheep

Now, Drew (she actually goes by a different name, but I’m not revealing it in this review) is like many of March’s other heroines: strong, willful, charming, and beautiful. Her investigation is clearly the impetus for the storyline of this book. She pushes and intrigues Cannon in ways that no other woman could before. However, she may also be his downfall, as his intuition about her is challenged and betrayed. She is everything you love in a heroine, but she is also reckless.

Together, these two are perfect; they compliment each other beautifully, but, as is the case with most March Hs and hs…nothing is ever easy for them. If you are looking for resolution in this book or the end of their story, well, it isn’t there. In fact, March leaves us on a HUGE cliffhanger which should be no shock if you’ve read her other books.

If you love deep, complex heroes, ones that make you swoon because they are demonstrably complicated, then you will love Cannon’s story, Black Sheep. He is my current book boyfriend du jour. I’m hoping for two things in White Knight, the second book of this duet: (1) reconciliation with Creighton (it’s about time) and (2) Cannon’s time in the sun with Dom. As far as I’m concerned, Drew and Cannon will get their happy ending; it’s Cannon who needs his resolution. Black Sheep is the quintessential Meghan March book, filled with a delicious hero, a determined heroine, and a driving story that keeps you hooked from the first page.

Kiss me.
