✍🏻 Happy Cover Reveal Day to Avery Flynn! Check out the cover for Awk-Weird – Coming October 14 ✍🏻

There’s more to me than just being awk-weird. I own my own
flower shop, have some great friends, and I have my eye on adopting the most
adorable kitten. But sadly, hot guys don’t tend to be blown away by my
trivia-spouting, dorky self.

So when a Thor-lookalike who happens to be a professional
hockey player hits on me at my bestie’s wedding rehearsal party… You better
believe I climbed that tree like a cat. And the fact that it happened not once,
not twice, but three times? Yeah, that’s pretty much a once-in-a-lifetime
experience for a woman like me.

There’s zero chance I’ll end up ever seeing him again…right?

Until the pregnancy test comes up positive. What happens next?

Oh my God, I wish I knew…

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 4 1/2 ⭐️ Review: Golden Angel’s Black Light: Defended ✍🏻

Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2

So what does it mean to live a life true to yourself, even when that lifestyle isn’t a popular one? What does it mean when a strong, intelligent, independent woman simply needs a break from controlling everything in her life? These questions find a home in Golden Angel’s Black Light: Defended.

The story follows Kawan and Melody. Melody is a doctoral student who has found herself in a bit of a legal jam. She attended a party and someone snuck drugs into her unattended bag. On a favor to the husband of Melody’s doctoral advisor, Kawan, an attorney, comes in to defend her innocence. From their meeting, Melody and Kawan feel the chemistry between the two of them, a strong pull towards each other. However, Kawan lives a certain lifestyle: he is a Daddy Dom. Due to a past issue with a girlfriend/sub, though, Kawan is careful in his attachments to women. Not knowing if Melody lives that particular lifestyle, he walks away from her after helping her, thinking he will never see her again.

A short time later, Kawan visits his new favorite place in D.C., Black Light Central, and Melody is there as a guest of her roommate’s boyfriend. Melody has long been interested in the lifestyle lived at Black Light. When Kawan finds her at BLC, he grows hope that the two of them might be able to engage in this lifestyle together. Yet, Melody is new to a dom/sub relationship, and Kawan must determine if a daddy/little relationship interests Melody. Choosing her for that night, Kawan shares the lifestyle with her, finding out quickly that Melody, indeed, has an interest in being taken care of by a daddy dom. As the story progresses, Kawan and Melody fall deeper into a relationship, but there are worries and complications. Will Kawan and Melody find a happy ending in this type of relationship? Or is Kawan doomed at finding a “little” to share his life?

I haven’t read too many “daddy dom” books, so I was intrigued by Golden Angel’s story. Even more, this is the first book I had read by this author, so I was excited to see how she fares in the world of Black Light. First of all, Black Light is one of my favorite dom/sub series. This means that anyone who writes for Black Light Press really should be top-notch, fitting into the bigger world. And Golden Angel’s story does this well.

From the start, I was hooked. For one, I love the multi-cultural aspect of this. Kawan is Korean, and I imagined him portrayed by the actor in the title role for Crazy Rich Asians, the film that Angel alludes to in the book. His character is incredibly patient, intelligent, careful, and caring. While I have never considered practicing this type of relationship, I would consider it if under the care of Kawan. You want him to find a happily ever after with Melody. With the exception of hiding the issues of his past relationship, he is stalwart, carefully guiding Melody through the lifestyle. He becomes her ultimate unselfish protector.

I also loved that Golden Angel creates the character of Melody as a doctoral student. This is a woman who is intelligent and deft in the lab. Her research is cutting edge, and her future is bright. However, she is a people-pleaser, someone who can be taken advantage of if that person is unkind. We see this portrayed in her relationship with her roommate. One would think that an intelligent, strong woman could stand up for herself. Yet, Angel is suggesting that people who are strong and careful in their work lives might want to be cared for in their personal lives. The two are not mutually exclusive. I thought this characterization of Melody is necessary and shows that the dom/sub relationship works well when both parties have their needs fed.

I simply could not put this book down, and it launched me into some of Angel’s other stories. She writes steamy well. It’s dirty and fun wrapped in one with a bowtie of sentiment. If you’re a fan of the Black Light series, you will want to read Black Light: Defended. My only suggestion for the story would have been to show us Kawan’s family’s reaction to Melody. I kept waiting for the moment when his very Asian mother met Melody. Yet, in the end, everything seems very bright for these two.

In love and romance,

Professor A

✍🏻 Happy Release Day, Kandi Steiner. Neat is one of my top reads of 2019. Logan Becker is swoony ✍🏻

Neat - RB banner.jpg

Rival families. Deep secrets. Exact opposites who can’t help but cross all the lines. Neat will leave you thirsty for more Becker Brothers!” — bestselling author Staci Hart

Neat, an all-new standalone contemporary romance by Kandi Steiner is LIVE!

Neat Cover FINAL.png

My life is over.

I swore I would never work at the whiskey distillery with my last name on it, that I would never be a part of my father’s legacy. But when I graduated with my art degree and realized there were no jobs, the devil appeared, and I sold my soul, agreeing to work in the family business if he’d give me the art studio I’d always dreamed of.

It can’t be that bad, I thought.

Until I realized my new boss was Logan Becker.

The Becker brothers have a reputation for being trouble, and since I love trouble, it’s no surprise to me that I’m infatuated by that forbidden fruit the first day I walk into the distillery. That lean, whiskey-eyed, too-hot-for-his-own-good man hates me — and I can’t blame him. His family has been at war with mine for decades, and for good reason.

The Beckers and the Scooters are the Montagues and Capulets of Stratford, Tennessee.

But if he’s Romeo, and I’m Juliet? Well… we all know how that story ends — and for that reason, I tell myself to steer clear.

Because if my father finds out I’m falling for Logan Becker, my life actually will be over.

And Logan’s will be, too.

Neat is a stand-alone book in the Becker Brothers Series.

Excerpt:

“So… I guess we should just be…” Logan swallowed. “Friends?”

The way he asked it, the way his eyebrows bent together, his lips flattening — I knew it was a hollow offer.

I nodded. “Sure. Of course.” A smile that felt like a wave of nausea found my lips. “Friends.”

Logan watched me, and I watched him, both of us waiting for something more. It seemed like there were a million unborn words between us, floating in the air, waiting for us to reach out and grab them and bring them to life. When a long moment of silence had passed, Logan bit the inside of his cheek, picking up his highlighter he’d abandoned on the desk when I’d walked in like he was ready to get back to work.

“But,” I said, and his eyes snapped to mine, the highlighter frozen over the page. “I mean… there’s another option, isn’t there?”

Logan dropped the highlighter, leaning back again. “There is?”

“I’m just saying,” I said, voice shakier than I wanted it to be in that moment. I took a sip of my coffee, shrugging. “What if we kept things low key… casual… just between us?” My eyes found his again. “It is what it is, and it’s not what it’s not. Right? No need for anyone to know.”

“Low key,” Logan repeated, like he was tasting the words, checking them for poison with his tongue. “So, friends… with benefits.”

I snorted. “If you want to be twenty-one about it, sure.”

Logan nodded, over and over, just a slight movement of his chin up and down as he considered it. I watched him as he stood, and I expected him to start pacing the office, but instead, he crossed it, closing his door and turning to face me.

His eyes swept over me, sparking a fire low in my stomach.

He wet his lips.

He took a step.

And then I was out of my chair, meeting him in the middle, the two of us crashing together like magnets.

His hands weaved into my hair when he captured my mouth with his own, both of us sighing on an inhale, moaning on the exhale, leaning into each other like we could somehow melt together completely. All the electricity I’d felt that night came back like a tidal wave, and I surrendered to the waves, letting them drown me. I wanted him to fill my lungs, to conquer every breath, to imprison me.

It was a kiss that told me we were both lying. We both wanted more.

But if it was a choice between this, or nothing at all?

There wasn’t a decision to make — not where I was concerned. It had already been made for us, without either of us having a say, without either of us having an ounce of control to throw this story in another direction.

We were inevitable, me and him.

And maybe we knew it from the start.

Logan backed me up to the desk, and when my ass hit it, I hiked both legs up, wrapping them around his waist and squeezing. He hissed, sucking my bottom lip between his teeth and releasing it with a pop, his hips rolling against mine. I broke the kiss to let out a gasp, and his mouth was on my neck in an instant, sucking and biting, my eyes rolling back at the contact.

He paused with his lips by my ear, breathing heavy. “I think this could work for me,” he whispered, running his tongue over my ear lobe. “This… friends agreement.” His hands squeezed where they held my hips, and the familiar pressure sent flashes of Saturday night barreling through my memory. I gasped, mouth still hanging open when he kissed my neck over to the opposite ear to whisper again. “What do you think?”

Against the voice inside me warning me not to, I ran my fingers through his hair, gripping those dark strands and pulling his lips back to mine.

That kiss was an answer.

That kiss was a lie.

And distantly, I realized that kiss might be the biggest mistake of my life.

✍🏻 Blog Tour and Excerpt Reveal: Elizabeth SaFleur’s Invincible is LIVE ✍🏻

Invincible - BT banner.jpg

People say a broken heart can kill, but it’s really the secrets that take you down.

~Alexander Rockingham II

Invincible, an all-new powerful and emotional ménage love story, featuring a sexy and dominant silver fox from Elizabeth SaFleur, is available now!

Check out my 5 ⭐️review HERE!Invicible-ebook.jpg

Alexander Rockingham keeps the secrets of Washington DC’s most elite players, but none are as devastating as his own. Forty years ago, the Wynters ripped away everyone he’d loved. When the family’s matriarch dies, he completes a promise to walk through the gates of their Connecticut estate as the owner, and with sledgehammer in hand, erase the name of Wynter. He also gives his beloved Charles—in the family graveyard—the goodbye he’d been denied decades earlier.

He didn’t expect to find Rebecca, the third in their lovers’ trio, standing there. He didn’t expect the man who is helping him settle the Wynter estate to offer himself to him and Rebecca as a stopgap to recapture a happier time. He didn’t expect to fall in love again—with both of them.

But sometimes love isn’t enough. Sometimes ghosts from the past are just too strong to counter even for three people united in beating them.

Invincible is a polyamory/menage (M/F/M and M/M/F) romance stand-alone Elite Doms of Washington novel.

Excerpt:

Eric stilled in the archway. Alexander, tie skewed and shirt open, held the back of a woman’s head in a greedy hold, his long fingers threaded through wild red hair. Who was the woman? Her skin was so pale against Alexander’s. He kissed her as if punishing her with his mouth, oblivious to the fact Eric had breached their personal space.

He should turn away. Hell, he shouldn’t be here. He had taken his life in his hands crossing that creek and sloshing up and over the bridge to bring Alexander dinner—the meal he’d forgotten to join Eric for. He’d chalked it up to the man still grieving. Clearly not.

Alexander’s fingers curled tighter into all those red strands as he deepened his kiss. Eric’s mouth watered, and the front of his pants shrank five sizes. One second of observing Alexander’s dominance and all Eric’s earlier efforts to drain his cock of need were for nothing as his erection strained against his zipper.

He swallowed, and shifted his weight. His soggy shoes squeaked against the marble, sending off an echo that could wake the dead. Alexander’s face broke contact with the woman and turned to him.

Eric glanced away. His options were limited. Step back out in the storm. Go to another room and wait out …

“Eric.”

Damn. Caught being a voyeur. He turned to face the man and prayed like hell he wasn’t blushing. The woman had shrunk behind him.

He lifted the bag. “I brought you dinner.” Lame, but true.

“Ah.” Alexander scrubbed his salt and pepper five o’clock shadow. “Time got away from me.”

Eric stepped closer and held out the bag. “I’ll leave it and head back out.”

“No, come in.” Alexander crooked his finger. “You’re soaked. This is Rebecca Beaumont.”

She stepped out from behind him, her cheeks aflame. His heart hitched a little at the vulnerability in her red-rimmed eyes. She’d been crying.

“Eric Morrison.” He offered a handshake. “I’d forgotten how vicious New England storms could be.”

Her hand disappeared into his palm. “Alexander and I are old friends.”

I can tell.

“Eric is helping me settle the estate.” Alexander gave him a half a smile on that word, and Eric’s belly gave a lurch worthy of a teenager with a bad case of puppy love.

“I don’t mean to intrude … ” Or stare. In this light, Rebecca’s high cheekbones and pale gray eyes cast an otherworldly vibe. His first thought was that she’d stepped off a film set from Lord of the Rings, like—what was the name of that elf colony? River-something.He was snapped back to reality from the crinkle of the food bag as Alexander took it from him.

“Not at all.” Alexander peered into the bag. “Eggplant Parmesan from the Grafton. My favorite.”

“Still?” Her tentative smile lit up her face. “Is it as good as Bertrands?”

“Better.” Alexander winked, and Eric’s eyebrows shot to his hairline. The Alexander Rockingham he knew didn’t do anything as frivolous as wink.

Eric cleared his throat. “If you’re planning on going out, you should know the bridge is almost washed out.” What else would he contribute to this tête-à-têtehe’d witnessed—or rather, had barged in on.

Alexander frowned. “Tell me you didn’t take any chances.”

“No big deal.” He shrugged. “I survived Hurricane Katrina. A little Nor’easter won’t be a problem.”

“Well, that’s it. You’re staying. In fact, we all are.”

Excerpt:

Zia…

His whispered words were everything I had ever wanted to hear. Everything I wanted to hear before I knew about Derrick and Theo. What he was saying was everything I needed, and a balm for my pain. The problem was I was getting this after the fact, and I didn’t know if I could believe it.

Believe it. You know you want to. “I can’t. I can’t do this.”

He nodded, but his forehead stayed pressed on mine. His thick lashes lay against his cheeks for a long moment as he closed his eyes. “I know, and I don’t want to make things difficult. I just fucking miss you.”

Goddamn it. I knew I needed to step away. My knees had turned to jelly, and the warm rush between my thighs told me I was weak, and I really, really wanted him.

Instead of stepping away though, I whimpered.

Theo’s breath caught in his throat. And instead of letting me go, instead of releasing my hand, he tugged me closer, his hands sliding up my thighs, then my waist. His thumbs traced over my ribs. He licked his lips. “Zia, I’m trying to let you go. I’m trying to do the right thing.”

“Then do it.”

“For both of our sakes, I wish I could.”

And then his lips were on mine, his tongue licking into my mouth, and God, it was as if molten lava were oozing out of me.

The kiss was mostly teeth and tongues, a clash of apologies and anger, and hurt.

Theo’s hands were in my hair, angling me, kissing me deeper. I tugged futilely at his shirt. There were too many goddamn buttons. His hands tugged my blouse out of my skirt, and then he lifted the hem of the material. There were no words then. Just grunts, and whimpers, and moans. Before I knew what was going on, Theo had backed me up until the back of my knees hit the couch. And then we were falling down.

Oh God. This was bad. This was very, very bad… but oh, so good. Better than anything I had ever felt in my life, and I was coiling toward the pure bliss of it. His hands were on my thighs, sliding up. He still continued to kiss me, and there was an intensity, an urgency to his movements.

He made this muffled laugh-growl against my lips, and his fingers found the edge of my panties. He shifted the elastic aside and then moaned against me. Without taking his lips from mine, he muttered against me. “Wet. Fuck.” Those two words telling me just how far his brain had devolved into caveman territory.

And then he was sliding his fingers into me. Two of them. No preamble, no foreplay. And God, I loved every second of it. I didn’t need the extras right now.

I was already so keen, so on-edge, and everything about this was wrong, and dirty, and so hot. I just need him closer. I needed more. I needed—

There was a loud banging at the door. Three sharp raps.

About Nana:

USA Today Best Seller, Nana Malone’s love of all things romance and adventure started with a tattered romantic suspense she “borrowed” from her cousin.

It was a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana, and Nana was a precocious thirteen. She’s been in love with kick butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination, and channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters.

While she waits for her chance at a job as a ninja assassin, in the meantime Nana works out her drama, passion, and sass with fictional characters every bit as sassy and kick butt as she thinks she is.

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 5 ⭐️ Review: Kandi Steiner’s Neat ✍🏻

Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Do you remember that first time you began to really like someone? Not the initial feeling, rather the one that goes deeper. You can’t wait to see them and seeing them begins and ends the day with so much excitement. Now, what would happen if the person you were slowly falling in love with comes from a family that is your mortal enemy? You still long for each other, but the families’ ire dampens, complicates, your attraction and growing love. It also makes for the best type of romance as evidenced by Kandi Steiner’s newest book, Neat

Neat is that book, the one you can’t put it down because you love the characters so much and you want to keep reading it for their love story BUT you need to put it down because you know what’s coming and it’s going to hurt. A tension follows you through the book, and you love it and hate it in equal measure. It’s angst at its best, and Steiner writes this tension well.

The genius of this book begins with its title. Steiner’s title, Neat, is ironic. After reading the story in its entirety, readers might believe it’s named for its hero’s, Logan, propensity for precision and organization and “neatness.” There are multiple references to “neat” as it describes him and his spaces.  However, the title evokes the sensibility of this story, the way in which Mallory and Logan are anything but “neat.” This story isn’t an easy one because these two are very different, beginning with their families who are a modern-day version of the “Hatfields and McCoys.” Logan and Mallory shouldn’t work; their families will tell them that they can’t work. Intuited into that is the idea that their potential relationship is very, very messy. Hence, the brilliance of this title. Yes, it’s a play on the ways to drink whiskey. But it’s really a moniker, a warning, that the story behind this title won’t be an easy one. Thankfully, it’s Steiner’s characterization of Logan and Mallory that keeps you afloat as you swim through this star-crossed trope of a romance.

From the outset of Neat, I loved Logan. I adored Noah in the first book of this series, On the Rocks. Like really really adored him. Yet, Logan characterizes a modern-day hero, two sides of a coin with masculine virility on one side and intelligence and sensitivity on the other. In the first book, Noah and Jordan, their older brother, point to Logan’s organizational and “buttoned-up” ways. The Beckers are meant to be rowdy troublemakers. Logan, however, is far from this. Each turn of the page in Neat drew me further into his character, and I found myself sighing over all of his ways: his organization, his love for knowledge, books, and documentaries, his cleanliness, his cooking, and his words; this man has all the words. If you read this book and you aren’t swooning over Logan Daniel Becker, then you have missed one of the best parts of Steiner’s romance. Because this man is that angel that fell to earth. He is the best kind of romantic hero. My favorite line for Logan: “she was reading my favorite book.” This is when I knew that Logan would be a forever book boyfriend.

Then, there is Mallory. At the beginning of their story, as Mallory takes in Logan’s office for the first time, she notes the white walls and efficiency of it. An artist, Mallory sees the lack of color in his room, and you, the reader, know right then that Mallory is going to be the color to Logan’s sparse canvas. She provides the shading, the depth. She is the mess to his “neat.” Even more, Mallory stands for justice in this story. She’s an advocate for righting wrongs even at her own expense. Usually, with a hero like Logan who you fall easily in love with, the heroine can do something that is grating. Not Mallory. Her sense of justice, her recognition of Logan’s strength in character, her originality, her ownership over her mistakes, and her need to live life on her terms help create the masterpiece of her and Logan’s relationship. She is the yin to his yang. I know how much I love Logan, and Mallory is his perfect complement in this book.

What I think is Steiner’s genius, though, beyond the title and the characterizations are the pictures she paints with her words. Just as Mallory, the master artist, creates beautiful art to decorate a space or capture a moment, Steiner crafts visceral moments in her stories. There are so many gorgeous places in this story when the words on the page are spun together in ways that make the moment palpable for the reader. I could pull example after example of this to illustrate this point, but the reality is you need to read this romance to feel and see Steiner’s art.

As Mallory tries to do near the end of the book in her need to capture the final scene of Logan’s favorite book, All the Light We Cannot See, this review seeks to find the words to capture the mastery of Steiner’s second book in this series. Neat is a story of muted colors and vibrant ones swirling together to find meaning in a small little town in Tennessee. It’s shading and light and heavy outlines and color. Kandi Steiner has painted a masterpiece through the story of Logan and Mallory. When I read On the Rocks, I didn’t think there was anyone better than Noah Becker…until Logan showed up. I had no idea that I would fall in love with another Becker man. But as we find in Neat, “that [is] the Becker way.”

In love and romance,

Professor A
