Teach me everything.

The Hookup Equation, all-new hilarious standalone romantic comedy from Roxie Noir, is coming February 26th, and we have the dreamy cover!

The Hookup Equation Final

My whole life, I’ve been a good girl. I follow rules like nobody’s business. I obey guidelines like I was born to it. Show me a line, and I’ll toe it.

I’m even a twenty-two-year-old virgin. Good is my middle name.

And then, I break one tiny little rule. Miniscule. Inconsequential.

Next thing I know, I’m trapped with an incredibly handsome stranger. He’s got eyes like cut emeralds, biceps that makes my head spin, and a smile that has me rethinking all my life choices.

We escape a bar bathroom together. We go on an impromptu date. We share the hottest kiss I’ve ever had, one that leaves me panting for more. We promise to see each other again.

Turns out, we see each other the next morning.

In my calculus class.

Which he’s teaching.

My handsome, sexy date is Professor Loveless, and we’ll be seeing each other plenty. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday all semester.

There’s no choice but to call it off. We both have too much at stake: I could lose my scholarship, and he could lose his entire career.

But I can’t call off the way I feel.

I can’t call off the way he looks when he rolls up his sleeves and explains imaginary numbers.

I can’t call off the heated glances, or the way our hands touch when I hand in my homework, or the memory of his body pressing against mine that night.

I’m a virgin.

He’s my professor.

And if we give in, it could cost us both everything.

But I’m so tired of being a good girl.

Some universal truths refuse to be ignored.

Peanut butter and jelly are a match made in heaven. Spaghetti and meatballs are best friends forever. And guys like Tyler Knight don’t go for girls like Cam Emerson.

She knew from the second she met him that he didn’t belong on her bookshelf, the six-foot-six ex-tight end with a face so all-American, it could have sold apple pie. So she shelved him next to the supermodels and rock stars and took her place on her own shelf — the one with the flannel-clad, pasty-faced comic book nerds. Most of her boyfriends have existed between the pages of books, but rather than worrying over her own lacking love life, she puts all her energy into playing Cupid, using her job at the book bar, Wasted Words, as her stomping ground.

Tyler Knight always looks on the bright side. His career-ending injury turned into a job as a sports agent. A horrible breakup led him to Cam, his quirky, smart roommate who is far more beautiful than she realizes. She’s made it perfectly clear she’s not interested in him — not like that at least — but if she ever changes her mind, he won’t hesitate. Because he doesn’t see the lines she’s drawn between them, as much as she insists that they’re there. Deep down he knows that despite their differences, they’re a match well made.

*A standalone romantic comedy inspired by Jane Austen’s Emma*

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

Blurb:
There’s a rule in Crowne Hall: never look a Crowne in the eyes.
It protects us more than them.

I broke it once, the night Grayson Crowne mistook me for his true love and stole my first kiss. I’ve regretted it every day since.

He hates me.
He torments me.

He won’t let me go, because that night he whispered a secret against my lips not meant for me. Grayson Crowne, heir to the Crowne empire and notorious playboy prince is… a virgin.

I signed a contract in my heart’s blood as much as ink: help him get back his love, repair what I broke. Give him my body, my soul, my heart, let him use all of me, so when the time comes to marry her, he won’t need me.

I shouldn’t need him.
But he’s my stolen soulmate, and I’m at his mercy.

About the Author:
I started writing the moment I could read. My first characters were Wibbley and Squig and I used MS Word and clipart to bring them to life when I was a kid in elementary school. I started seriously thinking about being a writer in High School and I remember the day exactly, because it was such an epiphany. I was always so uncertain. You know how everyone was always asking what you wanted to be when you were older? Well I NEVER could decide.

I wanted to be a marine biologist.

An actor.

A FIRE FIGHTER (thank you Joaquin Phoenix in Ladder 49 for that phase).

One day it hit me—A WRITER. I could do it ALL. Then you couldn’t stop me from writing. I penned my first novel at fifteen (but don’t ask me to show it to you, because it’s like I was in competition to beat the thesaurus). When I was diagnosed with a chronic illness, writing became even more important, because it became my therapy. When I wrote my characters, suddenly I wasn’t so alone.

These days you can find me daydreaming about where to travel with my husband, singing in my car, or lost in the newest K drama. And planning my next novel, of course

Everything changed the night my dad died.

The night I met Saint, Galen, Caz, and Theo.

Which I don’t.

Until The Sainthood decides I belong to them and cracks appear in my veneer. Their cruel games, harsh words, and rough touch awakens something inside me, and now, I’m in trouble.

They draw me deeper into their dangerous world, until I’m in the middle of all the violence and gang warfare, tangled up in all the secrets and lies, and there’s no turning back.

Because they own me.

And nothing has ever felt so right.

I’m exactly where I should be.

But with enemies on all sides, survival becomes a deadly game with no guarantees.

And, sometimes, saints become sinners.

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 5 ⭐️ Review: Jolie Vines’s Perfect Storm ✍🏻

Overall Grade: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

When Jolie Vines announces a new book, it causes me to pause. Can she do it again? Is it possible that this book could be the one that might leave me a little disappointed? I know it’s wrong. I shouldn’t doubt these amazing authors who pour their souls and words into their stories, but there is sometimes a little doubt. And I don’t want it to happen because authors bring so much energy and respite into my life. But it’s always there, sitting in a minuscule part of my mind.

And here’s the reality. Jolie Vines has yet to dissatisfy me. Instead, with her newest book, Perfect Storm, she continues to capture my heart and interest. Just when I think I might question her skill, she shows me easily her amazing skill at writing heroes who grasp my heart and cause me to swoon for their love of the heroine. In every single book, Vines writes the hell out of her heroes. Artair, the hero of Perfect Storm, is no different. As such, I’ve decided to coin a new phrase when referring to a Jolie Vines book: the Vines Hero. This writer is writing heroes who encompass a multitude of traits that lead you confidently and carefully through the joys and tensions of their stories: alpha, compassionate, empathic, masculine, and passionate. In each of her books, you can trust, you believe, that her heroes will lead you out to the most glorious of happy endings.

Perfect Storm is the story of Skye McRae (Callum’s daughter) and Artair (a friend of Skye’s twin, Lennox). In the first book of the Wild Scots series (Lennox’s story), it is clear at their first meeting that Skye and Artair exude powerful chemistry. This story begins several months later when Skye and her uncle, Wasp, travel to Artair’s island in order to take photos for Skye’s portfolio of wedding dresses. Skye is prepared to leave Scotland for New York for an internship that will afford her advantages in setting up her future as a wedding dress designer. Like the first time they met, Skye and Artair’s chemistry is combustible, and they engage in a one-night stand with no promises for the future. Separated the next day, the two go back to their lives, but they think back on the other from time to time. Then, one day, Skye shows up in Scotland with a revelation. Are Artair and Skye destined for each other, or will their dreams and aspirations derail their future?

While a Vines Hero is something special, as evidenced by Artair’s devotion and care of Skye (even when his control is stymied), a Vines Hero cannot illustrate his traits without the force of a heroine. Honestly, the heroines of Vines’s books tend to create the complications for a possible relationship. Skye McRae has aspirations and dreams, and a relationship with Artair seems impossible as they live in different parts of the world. Artair also has challenges that cause difficulties for these two to have a relationship. Yet, even though much of the difficulties between these two reside with Skye’s decisions for her future, she is above all else intelligent, compassionate, capable, insightful, and she is trying to carve out her place in the world. Through her characterization, Vines reminds us that Artair is right in falling for her. She is the type of woman who can bring light and life into his world. Without her, Artair cannot become his best self. In fact, when you read a Vines book, you learn quickly that the hero and heroine are two sides of the same coin. Their struggles are similar, and they work together to resolve them. It’s this revelation in her books that hooks you.

I know what I love the most about Jolie Vines’s storytelling: it is safe even when it doesn’t feel like it. This isn’t to say that she doesn’t create the emotional depth necessary to grab her reader’s souls. It simply means that the strife of the story won’t sink your soul. It tinges it for a bit before it lifts you up in the end. Watching these larger than life, masculine heroes love their heroines to the depths of their beings makes you believe that you can be loved completely. This is the trust I find in Vines’s storytelling. Perfect Storm manifests this beautifully, and it offers a message about our futures: dreams and aspirations are important, but living a life loved should be a part of our future too. Our future can change to include the deepest of love because, in the end, it will make us better people. This is the depth of Jolie Vines’s writing soul in Perfect Storm.

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 5++⭐️ Review: BB Easton’s Dying for Rain, the final book of the Rain Trilogy ✍🏻

Overall Grade: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️++

Imagine the Rain Trilogy as a transcendent, awe-inspiring concert that overwhelms your mind and soul. Praying for Rain is the opening act; its purpose is preparing for the headliner. It begins to move the blood through your veins, and it raises your interest and emotions, but it won’t match the power of the headliner. Instead, it will spark your soul, waiting for the striking match and tinder of the main band. Fighting for Rain is the headlining band of the concert, and you’re sitting in the front row. This isn’t a Michael Buble or Coldplay concert, though. No, Fighting for Rain holds the driving power of a Fall Out Boy or Paramore or Twenty-One Pilots. Except it’s harder and faster and sets the frenzy of your blood. It’s the strike of the match, setting your soul on fire. And then comes Dying for Rain. Thinking that the concert can’t be any more heated, you land in the mosh pit, filled with the crazed visceral movements of those who have wrapped themselves in the music of the main band. From one minute to the next, you don’t know if you’ll be moved from one part of the mass of bodies to the other. Each moment keeps you suspended, waiting, anticipatory, and overwhelmed by the moment, by the people, by the power of the music. This feeling, this mosh pit, is Dying for Rain. It’s a no-holds-barred onslaught of emotions and moments that drive you forward until its resolution. Every turn of the page leads you out of the darkness of Rain and Wes’s story and further into its light. Yet, in the midst of this frenzy, its driving story, nestled in its burning pages is a powerful message of the power of one, the ability for one person to challenge evil and bring it to its knees. This is the fire of BB Easton’s Dying for Rain and the rest of the trilogy because, at its core, in the very center of the mosh pit of this book, lies the most important message:

Love saves.

From its first page, Easton engages us in Rain and Wes’s story. When we leave Fighting for Rain, we are beset with feelings of despair. Our hero and heroine are separated, and their future looks bleak. Rain’s belief in herself and Wes has waned. Yet, this is a romance with a happy ending, so we hope there is far more to this story. As a reader, you find yourself suspended in Rain and Wes’s story, waiting. During this pause, however, Easton reveals more and more of the background behind this society. Each chapter unveils more of the reality of this world, and Easton couples it with this energy and action that keeps you glued to her story. Every page brought me deeper into the danger of a society that willingly sacrifices its best citizens, the prime of its civilization. Easton has crafted this destitute, morally-bankrupt humanity that seems beyond redemption. Between Rain and Wes’s despair and the bleak future, everything seems lost.

Until love.

Herein lies Easton’s talent. In her acknowledgments, she reminds us that this trilogy is her first fictional offering, which is astonishing because the society she’s crafted in this trilogy, in Dying for Rain, is a hyperbolized version of our own world, emphasizing her craftsmanship. She pulls emotions from her reader through her storytelling that insists that we don’t “check out,” as we see Rain wanting to do time and time again. In the pits of despair, Rain becomes us, and Easton creates her as a reminder that one person can tenaciously make a difference. Add in the depth and gravity of love to the equation, and one person can effect change. This is the power and heart of Dying for Rain and this trilogy. This is BB Easton cautiously and carefully admonishing us that we can be better than our world. That we can love others into loving others. That we can influence our world to be better for ourselves and our future. This message stays hidden until this final book. And its revelation exposes Easton’s talent, her keen craftsmanship of story and character to a greater end than a simple happy ending.

It’s been some time since I’ve read a trilogy that ended in such a way that I wanted more. When Dying for Rain ended, I found myself mourning the end of Rain and Wes’s story already. BB Easton has done something so interesting with The Rain Trilogy that you want to buy a ticket to future Easton books. Dying for Rain is like that mosh pit, throwing us about like a limp doll. Yet, in the end, the crowd disperses, and you find yourself feeling transformed as the shared experience with others reminds you of the love for something bigger than yourself. This is an inescapable truth in Easton’s trilogy.

In love and romance,

Professor A

—K. Webster, USA Today Bestselling Author

Dying for Rain, the highly anticipated conclusion to The Rain Trilogy from BB Easton, is out now!

Door leading to a burning city

What could be worse than knowing the exact day the world is going to end?

Waking up to find out that it didn’t.

The post-April 23 world is a lawless, senseless, ruthless place, but it’s not loveless. At least, not for Rain and Wes.

But when the government begins holding daily televised executions as a demonstration of their power, that love is put to the ultimate test:

Sacrifice one life to save the many?

Or sacrifice many to save the one?

BB Easton lives in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia, with her long-suffering husband, Ken, and two adorable children. She recently quit her job as a school psychologist to write books about her punk rock past and deviant sexual history full-time. Ken is suuuper excited about that.

Praying for Rain is BB’s first full-length work of fiction. The idea, fittingly, came to her in a dream.

Excerpt

He jerks his thumb at his mansion. “Don’t you want a tour?”

“Of Hearst Castle? No, thanks.”

His expression tells me how incomprehensible that is. “Everyone always wants a tour. Always.”

“I mean, it’s a very nice place, I’m sure.”

Now he looks insulted. He turns to stare at the house, then turns back to me. “Nice?”

“Please don’t take it personally. I’m not trying to start World War III here. A house like that just isn’t my thing.”

“Your thing?”

“Will you stop repeating everything I say?”

“It’s just that I’m having trouble with the fact that you don’t like my house. Everybody likes it. Everybody. Especially women.”

I sign in exasperation. “Oh, for goodness’ sake, Mason, I could give a flying fig what everyone else thinks. I’ll take my cozy little cottage over this place any day.”

But why?”

I fold my arms across my chest and turn my torso toward him. “Why are you so upset that I don’t like it when you don’t like it, either?”

He shouts, “I never said I didn’t like it!”

“You didn’t have to. The closer we got to it, the more you constipated you looked.”

“That’s just my face!”

“Baloney. You hate your house. Admit it.”

Wild-eyed and wound up, he stares at me for a long, silent moment. Then he exhales in a huge gust and drops his head into his hands.

He says miserably, “I totally hate it. It’s awful, isn’t it?”

I pat his shoulder. “It’s beautiful, elegant, and absolutely ridiculous. Have you thought about asking the state legislature if they need new headquarters?”

He moans into his hands. “I don’t even have any furniture except a bed. You should hear how bad it echoes in there. And everything is marble, so it’s always freezing cold. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and think I’m sleeping in a mausoleum!”

I can’t help myself. I start laughing again.

He lifts his head and glares at me. “It’s not funny!”

“It’s so funny I can’t stand it.”

“Do you have any idea what I paid for this place?”

“Your gargantuan mausoleum?” I squint at it through the window. “I dunno. Bazillions?”

“Exactly! Bazillions!”

“I’m no financial whiz, Sparky, but I think they saw you coming.”

When he groans and drops his head against the headrest, closing his eyes, I try to reassure him. “I’m sure there’s some oil baron with twelve ex-wives and a hundred kids who’d love to move into it. With all the members of his country club. And their housekeeping staff.”

Mason opens his eyes and glares at me.

I try to stifle another laugh, but fail. “And the entire population of Portugal.”

“Ha ha.”

“Oh, lighten up. It’s not like you can’t sell it.”

Sounding panicked, he says, “But where would I live?”

“You say that like there are zero options between here and a cardboard box.”

“Name one.”

“There’s a house for sale at the end of my block.”

That astonishes him so much it leaves him speechless.

“You’re right,” I say solemnly. “It’s only a three-bedroom. There’s not enough space for both you and your ego.”

He looks away. “I’m just surprised you’d want me living on the same street as you.”

“Are you kidding? Imagine how much fun we could have screaming obscenities at each other over the backyard fences. The neighbors would love it.”

When he glances back at me and sees me smiling, he smiles, too. “Yeah, especially when they hear your PG version of cursing. ‘Dingwaddle’ this and ‘flying fig’ that. They won’t even know what language we’re speaking.”

We smile at each other so long it starts to get uncomfortable. I look away, patting my hair to make sure no stray strands have escaped from my bun.

After a rough throat clearing, Mason says, “I guess I’ll go in, then.”

“Okay. Goodnight. And thanks again for dinner. I love that place.”

When he doesn’t respond, I glance over at him. He’s staring back at me with the same warm look that flustered me at the restaurant. “You’re welcome, Pink. Anytime.”

“So I’ll send you all the information on Stephanie as soon as I vet her file. Okay?”

“Sure. Looking forward to it.”

An awkward silence follows. Finally, Mason breaks it by saying, “Sweet dreams.” He opens the door and starts to get out.

“Wait.”

He turns to me, his hand on the door and a question in his eyes.

“I, um, I need to say something.”

He groans. “You’re killing me, you know that?”

“No, this isn’t anything about you. You haven’t done anything wrong. This is about me.”

Eyes alight, he settles back into his seat. “This should be interesting.”

I search his face before I speak, because I want to be sure I don’t miss any change in his expression. “I’m sorry for teasing you about your ego. It’s not nice. And I don’t want you to think that I think there’s anything wrong with you, because I don’t.”

His face goes through several different emotions before it settles on something I can’t identify. It’s part pain and part pleasure, with a whole lot of ambivalence thrown in.

He says softly, “I know you don’t think there’s anything wrong with me. Which is what makes me assume your parents must’ve dropped you on your head a lot when you were a baby.”

“Oh, for crying out loud. I’m trying to apologize here!”

He grins. “You did. I heard you. And you don’t have to do it again, because I like it when you give me shit.”

When I quirk my lips, he amends quickly, “The business. I meant I like it when you give me the business. Nobody else mouths off to me the way you do.”

“Good to know,” I say, smiling. “Now that I know you like it, the gloves will come off, pal, so you better watch out.”

“I can hardly wait.”

We sit there grinning at each other, until Mason says, “Get outta here. I’ll talk to you next week.”

“Aye-aye, Captain.”

Then it all falls apart in slow motion.

I don’t know what makes me do it. I honestly don’t. One minute we’re smiling and saying goodbye, the next minute I’m impulsively leaning over to give him a kiss on the cheek.

Only he’s turning his head, so my target moves.

Where his cheek was supposed to be, suddenly his lips are there instead.

His warm, soft, beautiful lips, which part when they meet mine.
