Winston Constantine is no prince charming…
I crave him so badly I think I might be losing my mind. He’s right in front of me, but he’s just as remote as my dreams of getting away from my stepbrothers. I keep playing his twisted games, and I want to stay just as distant as he is. But I can’t. I never could. I’ve fallen for him. Hopelessly. Irrevocably.
But Winston isn’t a lover, he’s a business venture.
A way for me to pay for college.
A ticket out.
He’s never pretended to be anything other than that.
I can’t blame him for making me fall in love.
There can be no happily ever after between a maid and a prince, no matter what the stories say.

Told in alternating timelines, THE THINGS WE LEAVE UNFINISHED examines the risks we take for love, the scars too deep to heal, and the endings we can’t bring ourselves to see coming.
Twenty-eight-year-old Georgia Stanton has to start over after she gave up almost everything in a brutal divorce—the New York house, the friends, and her pride. Now back home at her late great-grandmother’s estate in Colorado, she finds herself face-to-face with Noah Harrison, the bestselling author of a million books where the cover is always people nearly kissing. He’s just as arrogant in person as in interviews, and she’ll be damned if the good-looking writer of love stories thinks he’s the one to finish her grandmother’s final novel…even if the publisher swears he’s the perfect fit.
Noah is at the pinnacle of his career. With book and movie deals galore, there isn’t much the “golden boy” of modern fiction hasn’t accomplished. But he can’t walk away from what might be the best book of the century—the one his idol, Scarlett Stanton, left unfinished. Coming up with a fitting ending for the legendary author is one thing, but dealing with her beautiful, stubborn, cynical great-granddaughter, Georgia, is quite another.
But as they read Scarlett’s words in both the manuscript and her box of letters, they start to realize why Scarlett never finished the book—it’s based on her real-life romance with a World War II pilot, and the ending isn’t a happy one. Georgia knows all too well that love never works out, and while the chemistry and connection between her and Noah is undeniable, she’s as determined as ever to learn from her great-grandmother’s mistakes—even if it means destroying Noah’s career.

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 4 1/2 ⭐️ Review: K. Webster’s Prince Charming ✍🏻
Overall Grade: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 1/2
Lawdy, lawdy, lawdy! K. Webster can write the heck out of a dirty romance. In Prince Charming, book 2 of her Stroke of Midnight trilogy, more of what you loved about Stroke of Midnight, the first book of this trilogy, is HERE. Prince Charming is still dirty, still edge-of your seat, and still more of Winston’s insistence that he can’t love. Add into this more of the step-brothers misbehaving, more of the Constantines, and more of Ash standing tall against Winston while falling deeper for him. As she did with Stroke of Midnight, Webster leaves us suspended on a cliff at the end of Prince Charming, so much so that I worry that Ash will make it out of alive in this series. But all of this conspires to create a book that, while dark and sometimes it hurts your heartstrings, there is a lightness to it too. It’s just plain fun even when Winston is degrading Ash and denying his feelings.
Also, K. Webster has once again brilliantly woven in so many aspects of the Cinderella myth that you can’t help but smile as you encounter the ball and the shoe and the pumpkin (yep! It’s here). She has modernized and dirtied up the fairy tale in a way that makes it a delicious read.
If you love dark romance, some seriously steamy romance, and a cliffhanger that makes you crave the next book, then you definitely want to read K. Webster’s Prince Charming. She had me at glass slipper…

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 4 ⭐️ Review: Christina Hovland’s Rachel, Out of Office ✍🏻
Overall Grade: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Christina Hovland’s Rachel, Out of Office is a story that feels like a part of a woman’s soul. As women have taken on more of the work sphere, they’ve also taken on the anxieties of “having it all:” family, work, romance, etc. In this book that reads as more women’s fiction than romance, Hovland challenges readers to consider the idea of having it all along with living a perfectionistic life. She writes in her acknowledgments how much of her heroine’s life is hers. I think more importantly it’s a collective female “ours,” as Rachel, her heroine, navigates an ex-husband, single motherhood, owning a business, and a potential love interest. Over and over again, Hovland shows us that it isn’t living if we’re too worried about failing and not “being enough.”
For me, that message is the profundity of Hovland’s book. Rachel’s characterization is a difficult one to read because you see her “crazy-making” throughout the progression of the story, and you want to yell at her, as she acts as a doormat to her ex-husband, her clients, and her former mother-in-law. But the reality is she’s anyone of us who has strived to take more or be more in life. There is that great saying from Einstein: “insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different outcome,” and you see this played out in Hovland’s story as an admonishment for her readers. Rachel is your prototypical heroine in a book about women’s issues: she’s independent, stalwart, and strong. She takes on the complications of her life with a stiff backbone. You can’t help but be impressed with her, but you also become frustrated at her stubbornness, her unwillingness to be flexible even when it is to her advantage. It is in that place, however, where you can’t help but commiserate with her. Hovland has crafted a heroine who looks, acts, and sounds like many of us, and we easily find ourselves in her book.
Now, it’s the romance of this story that brings about Rachel’s changes. Travis, Hovland’s hero, is set up as a bit of “hate-to-love” even though the disdain is manufactured. As Travis and Rachel recognize their interest in each other, Rachel finds support that doesn’t exist fully from her baby daddy. You can’t help but fall for Travis as he is the first person to totally see Rachel and accept her as she is. Hovland gives him this intuition about Rachel that makes you fall for him as he seeks to make her life easier.
Overall, Christina Hovland’s Rachel, Out of Office is a story about finding a better version of yourself, one that isn’t so perfect or “everything.” It’s about letting people into your life to help you even if it isn’t handled by you. This book is a perfect reminder that women CAN have it all, but they can allow people into their lives to make a life of “all” more abundant.
In love and romance,
Professor A

Rachel, Out of Office by Christina Hovland is now live!
Out of reach, out of touch, out of her mind.
Single mom, Rachel Gibson seriously needs a break. Between an absent ex-husband, rowdy twin boys, managing the PTA, and running her own business, her candle isn’t burning at both ends, it’s a full-blown puddle of wax. She’s the go-to girl for other entrepreneurs, handling all the tasks they dread. Social media posts? She’s got it. Website updates? She’s on it. Light bookkeeping? Oh, yes.
Thank goodness she’s about to get a reprieve when her in-laws plan to whisk her boys away for a summer of fun at the family lake house. But when her ex backs out of the family retreat, and her former inlaws insist she attend their yearly vacation summit with her munchkins, she finds herself in a pickle. Even though she’s drowning in to-dos, she’s horrible at saying no — especially when it comes to her kids.
Once Rachel arrives at the lake house, she struggles to keep up with work and balance the demands of family all the while fending off pesky new feelings about her ex-brother-in-law. Which makes her start to wonder… Is falling for her ex-husband’s brother just one more messy complication added to the dumpster fire? Or is anything possible when she’s out of office…

Betraying the most powerful man in New York wasn’t something I ever envisioned when I first started playing games with Winston Constantine. But he’s engaged in far more dangerous games than ours, and his enemies are out for blood.
Winston has my heart, the Morellis have incriminating photos, and I’m left with nothing except three stepbrothers who want to hurt me and a future in doubt. I knew Winston wouldn’t be my prince charming, but that didn’t stop me from falling for him.
After all, the slippers fit, and I let myself believe I’d be dancing with Winston forever.
Until too much truth comes to light.
Until I realize instead of ruling the board, I was just a pawn.
In the end, I have only one question. When his game with me is over, will I be able to pretend as if the glass slipper wasn’t a perfect fit?

About Tessa
Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans and laptop, driving cross-country to New York City in under four days.
Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the workforce as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.
She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband of eleven years and seven-year-old daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 4 ⭐️ Review: K.K. Allen’s British Bachelor, a Cocky Hero Club story ✍🏻
Overall Grade: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
When I saw the sign-up for K.K. Allen’s British Bachelor, it wasn’t for any interest I may have in the television show, The Bachelor. I know that K.K Allen adores the show, but I gave up on that many seasons ago. What drew me to this book was (1) the storytelling of K.K. Allen, whom I adore, and (2) the Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward story that inspired this book, British Bedmate aka Dear Bridget, I Want You. And K.K. Allen’s British Bachelor did not disappoint in living up to my love for both of these.
This story follows Liam and Chelsea. Chelsea is a woman at a bit of a crossroads. She has just quit her Ph.D. program in the hopes of writing books. The problems are (1) she hasn’t told her parents and (2) she’s afraid to share her stories with the people who can get them made. To be honest, Chelsea is kind of stuck. She’s comfortable: she’s a nanny for an esteemed physician and his nurse wife, so she isn’t in a hurry to prove herself. Enter Liam. She accidentally runs into Liam in her parents’ tea shop. British, handsome, and enticing, he catches her eye, but she doesn’t act on it, thinking she will never see him again. Until she does. In her pool when her employers are away. Liam is hiding something. He’s run from his home country, England. He is also friends with Chelsea’s employers. From first sight, these two are drawn together, but there are obstacles in their way. Are they destined for a happy ending, or will these two fail to fully ignite?
As she does so well, K.K. Allen develops a story that grabs you and keeps you engaged. British Bachelor is more of this. Her story illustrates the world of a Bachelor-type show, but she presents the seediness of it. While it’s easy to get trapped in the glamour of finding love among a plethora of women, Allen uses her story to show us the complications of finding “love” when reality doesn’t match the fantasy. As Liam’s story progresses, you see the dichotomy between reality and fantasy as he falls deeply for Chelsea.
Chelsea and Liam have clear chemistry from their first accidental meeting. Throughout their evolution, Allen builds on that initial chemistry moving us further into a relationship grounded in love. Allen is adept at complicating the situation for her characters, and she does this easily. There are several balls to juggle: (1) Liam being from England and needing to return, (2) Chelsea evolving her life, (3) their burgeoning relationship – are they in love or lust? And (4) the complication of Chelsea’s employers finding out about them. All of these conspire to create a book that is engaging.
I loved that this book was inspired by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward’s British Bedmate, a book that stands as one of my Keeland and Ward favorites. The same feel of that book, the hero holding back something out of fear, is present in K.K. Allen’s British Bachelor. Allen has done well at capturing that feeling in her own story. In the end, you leave British Bachelor with the promise of a greater happily-ever-after for Chelsea and Liam. This book is the perfect lazy read if you love The Bachelor and a $exy British hero who charm their way into the heart of a reticent heroine.
In love and romance,
Professor A
