Blurb
Jonah Daniels has enough work preparing for his hockey season without spending time interviewing a roommate to help share expenses. So when some dude answers J.D.’s ad and agrees to his terms, he puts a key under the mat and leaves for practice.

What he doesn’t expect is that his new roommate is not a dude at all, but an overtalkative, energetic hottie. What’s worse? She’s the younger sister of his friend on the team, and she’s sworn him to secrecy.

Ryann Reiner needs a place to live, stat. After an incident at the dorms that almost tanked her scholarship, Ryann wants a boring roommate who’ll leave her alone. J.D. almost fits the bill. He lives and breathes hockey, just like her brother, and he wouldn’t know a joke unless it hip-checked him against the boards.

He’s also gorgeous. And broody. And he looks fine on laundry day, in too little clothing. Soon, late-night study sessions turn into dangerous flirting. And then a kiss turns into more. But they’re determined to keep things in the feelings-free zone.

Until lines blur and tensions rise when Ryann’s brother learns the truth. And both their hearts are skating on thin ice…

Blurb:
Told in alternating timelines, THE THINGS WE LEAVE UNFINISHED examines the risks we take for love, the scars too deep to heal, and the endings we can’t bring ourselves to see coming.

Twenty-eight-year-old Georgia Stanton has to start over after she gave up almost everything in a brutal divorce—the New York house, the friends, and her pride. Now back home at her late great-grandmother’s estate in Colorado, she finds herself face-to-face with Noah Harrison, the bestselling author of a million books where the cover is always people nearly kissing. He’s just as arrogant in person as in interviews, and she’ll be damned if the good-looking writer of love stories thinks he’s the one to finish her grandmother’s final novel…even if the publisher swears he’s the perfect fit.

Noah is at the pinnacle of his career. With book and movie deals galore, there isn’t much the “golden boy” of modern fiction hasn’t accomplished. But he can’t walk away from what might be the best book of the century—the one his idol, Scarlett Stanton, left unfinished. Coming up with a fitting ending for the legendary author is one thing, but dealing with her beautiful, stubborn, cynical great-granddaughter, Georgia, is quite another.

But as they read Scarlett’s words in both the manuscript and her box of letters, they start to realize why Scarlett never finished the book—it’s based on her real-life romance with a World War II pilot, and the ending isn’t a happy one. Georgia knows all too well that love never works out, and while the chemistry and connection between her and Noah is undeniable, she’s as determined as ever to learn from her great-grandmother’s mistakes—even if it means destroying Noah’s career.

About the Author:
Rebecca Yarros is the Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author of over fifteen novels, including Great and Precious Things and The Last Letter. “A gifted storyteller” (Kirkus), she is also the recipient of the Colorado Romance Writer’s Award of Excellence for Eyes Turned Skyward from her Flight and Glory series.

Rebecca loves military heroes and has been blissfully married to hers for almost twenty years. She’s the mother of six children, ranging from kindergarten to law school, and is currently surviving the teenage years with three of her four hockey-playing sons. When she’s not writing, you can find her at the hockey rink or sneaking in some guitar time while guzzling coffee. She and her family live in Colorado with their stubborn English bulldogs, two feisty chinchillas, and a Maine Coon kitten named Artemis, who rules them all.

Having fostered then adopted their youngest daughter who is nonverbal and on the autism spectrum, Rebecca is passionate about helping children in the foster system through her nonprofit, One October, which she co-founded with her husband in 2019. ✍🏻 K. Bromberg’s Hard to Score is LIVE! Run and grab your copy of it NOW. ✍🏻

Hard to Score by K. Bromberg is now live!

I’ve signed numerous players to my family’s agency–I assumed winning over my next client would be just as easy.

The last thing I expected was to run into the boy who took my first kiss and broke my heart: only now Drew Bowman is all grown up.

Sexy. Scandal-tainted. Second-string. The crush I never got over.

I tell myself work is the reason I can’t get him out of my head. I tell him his talent far outweighs his position, and I know I can help. I lie and lie, because admitting that I want a second chance at my first love is impossible.

Some lines cannot be crossed, and ours was drawn in the sand years ago.

***

I’m supposed to hate her.

I’ve been told so time and again for ten years – her father ruined our family, smeared my name before my career even began.

But that’s not what I’m feeling now.

Brexton Kincade just strode out of my memories and onto my field.

Driven. Determined. Grown up. The Capulet to my Montague.

Being with her would be an unforgivable sin against my father, but I can’t resist the pull between us. Even if it means hiding what we have. Even if it means confronting the secrets I’ve always feared were lies.

Excerpt

The plan had a flaw.

I hadn’t counted on someone being right at the bottom of the railing, pressed against it, holding a drink.

There was no way to stop myself. I tried, attempting to jump off the railing, but my timing was off. I was going too fast, and before I could maneuver, I just plowed into the back of him. As if he had sensed movement behind him, he turned exactly at the moment of collision. My center of gravity was off and I was falling head down.

I took an elbow to the chin.

And a martini in the face.

Vodka went into my mouth. Not bad.

Vodka went up my nose. Not great.

Vodka went in my eye. That freaking sucked. “Ow!”

I grabbed the guy around the midsection and tried to find my feet. My eyes were closed against the blinding, stinging liquid. Damn it. It was a dirty martini. Olive juice on top of vodka really was a bad combination. In my eye, anyway. I licked it off my lips.

“Are you okay?”

I couldn’t see shit, eyes watering viciously and still primarily closed, but I managed to right myself to a standing position. “I think so.”

Except for the fact that a giant manhand was on my face, attempting to wipe away the spilled drink. It almost made me lose my balance all over again.

I took a step back to escape the swiping.

“Dakota?”

The man knew my name. Thank God. That would be way less embarrassing than running into a total stranger. Unless it was the landlord because I owed him two hundred bucks. I wasn’t sure I was ever going to know because my eyes were still stinging and I had zero visibility. But I used my knuckle and dried my tears.

My words died when I realized who this guy was.

It was him.

Brandon.

The man who had helped me escape my surprise wedding and taken me ice-skating at Rockefeller Center.

Standing there in a navy button-up shirt over tight black jeans that showed off his muscular build. Looking big and broad and sexy as hell. His eyes were wide in recognition.

“Dakota,” he murmured again, this time without question.

His tone was so pleased, so sensual, so intimate, like we had shared something more than one hot kiss under the mistletoe, that I nearly had an orgasm listening to him.

“It’s you,” I said, because I’ve always wanted to say that. They do it in movies all the time, and never, ever, in real life is there an opportunity to say something as dramatic as “it’s you.” But this was my chance and I took it.

I had been absolutely sure I would never see this man again and yet, here he was standing in front of me.

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 5 ⭐️ Review: Victoria Denault’s Blindsided ✍🏻

Overall Grade: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

There is a certain magic to Sarina Bowen’s world of hockey players, farmers, and small-town dwellers. When you read her stories, you feel the realness of her character seep into your soul. You can’t help but adore her characters and their troubles because they act as mirrors of fiction to your own life’s issues. Yet, in her books, the happy ending is right away the corner, which allows you to transcend your own current troubles for the span of 200 to 300 pages. When she announced the expansion of her fictional worlds, this reader was ecstatic. Having seen the power of this level of storytelling with Penny Reid, Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, and K Bromberg, I know how much fun it is to read other authors who build their stories upon a solid foundation. In this case, the foundation is Sarina Bowen’s magic. The challenge of this, though, is trying to situate that same magic in the voices of other authors. There is a guarantee for me that when I read ANY Sarina Bowen book I will find that feeling of comfort, her stories that feel like they are apart of me. When I came to Victoria Denault’s Blindsided, one of the first books of Bowen’s Heart Eyes Press, I was nervous. Would she be able to capture Bowen’s magic in her book from the Moo U world? What I found was a writer who indeed captured Bowen’s magic and made it all her own. Victoria Denault’s Blindsided will remind you why you ADORE the hockey players of Bowen’s universe. Not only does she make us love Tate Adler, but she also adds in flavors of Bowen’s True North series by situating much of this delicious book on the farms of Vermont. This melding of Bowen’s worlds captures the reader and makes them salivate for more.

The Adlers and Todds are neighbors and enemies, generational enemies. The current generation, Tate Adler, college hockey star, and Magnolia “Maggie” Todd, have no idea how the feud began. All they know is they should hate each other. The problem lies in the start of an attraction between the two. Neither is blind to the beauty of the other, but they would never act on it because…well, they are supposed to be mortal enemies. Until…they can’t be. The challenge of Tate and Maggie becomes their ability to love each other when they are surrounded by decades of hate. You must read the story to find out if they can find their happy ending, or will their families destroy it?

What is there to love about this story? Where does the magic lie in Blindsided?

Tate and Maggie’s chemistry is clear from the beginning. They sizzle. There is no doubt in your mind that they aren’t attracted to each other. As Denault’s story progresses, the best part lies in their willingness to fall deeply in love with each other. That change feels emotional and substantial whereas the early stages of their attraction feel base. In that change, any frustration or ire you might feel about Tate or Maggie evaporates. It was there where I felt Denault cement herself in Bowen’s universe.

The banter and rapport between Tate and Maggie and Daisy (Maggie’s sister) and Jace (Tate’s brother) is incendiary and provides much of the humor of this story. Yes, there are times when it feels all too serious, and you hurt for each of them, but their banter and their want to challenge each other makes the book fun.

The resolution of Denault’s story is an interesting one. I won’t divulge this book’s secrets, but I loved the path that she chose to work towards a happy ending for Tate and Maggie.

Simply put, every turn of the page of Victoria Denault’s Blindsided was an easy choice for me. From the first chapter to her epilogue and bonus epilogue found me entrapped in her story. As a beginning to this new venture for Heart Eyes Press, Blindsided is a perfect start, capturing the magic you find in Sarina Bowen’s stories.

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 4 ⭐️ Review: Kate McBrien’s For Your Love ✍🏻

Overall Grade: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

For Your Love, book 2 of Kate McBrien’s Hidden Hearts series, is a beautiful story about second chances. The story follows Colleen and Finn, childhood friends (a friendship created through the friendship between their parents) who realize in their teenhood their mutual interest in the other. Their burgeoning attraction reaches its peak when Finn asks Colleen to come home with him to New York. On her pause in response to this request, he rescinds it and quickly denounces any interest in her to her meddling brother, effectively breaking her heart. The story fast forwards ten years, and the two meet again at the funeral for her father. Like their past, they instantly feel their chemistry; however, Colleen has years of disliking Finn for his rejection of her and she spurns him. Over the course of a few weeks, Colleen breaks up with her awful boyfriend, is fired from her teaching position, and finds herself relocated to New York where she lives with her brother (Finn’s best friend) in the same building where Finn lives. Finn knows that Colleen is “the one” for him, so he works to win her over. Yet, a secret trauma from Colleen’s past along with a tragic moment for Finn seeks to undo all of his work to bring them together. Will they find their happy ending?

For Your Love has so much potential. There is a sweetness to this story as it’s clear that Finn, a playboy in his early twenties, adores Colleen. Except for two moments in this story, McBrien allows you to fall in love with Finn because he wants to love and keep Colleen with him forever. Unfortunately, McBrien makes her readers work for it because outside forces seek to undermine Finn’s love for Colleen. For one, Finn fights his past with a father who was abusive and lorded his wealth over his son. This creates a psychology of doubt in Finn that creates problems for him and Colleen.

Along with Finn’s psychology, McBrien creates the character of Colleen with a traumatic past. Honestly, she takes much of the story building to that moment that, even though it’s hinted at in her blurb, you wonder if McBrien will realize that moment in For Your Love. That’s one of my biggest criticisms of the story. There is no concrete build-up to it. It is secreted in whispers until the moment that Colleen divulges her secret. You are never quite sure if it will be fully realized. When it is, there is a resolution to it that feels too steady and easy in a way. Granted, the resolution of it is one of the most powerful parts of the book, but its progression could have used more work.

Instead, for me, the emotional gravitas of the story is Colleen and Finn’s reconciliation. I think McBrien could have left out Colleen’s piece, and their love story would have provided enough investment for her reader if she had slowed down their journey. Finn’s past provides enough power for this romance in his need to resolve his past feelings for his father. Add in Colleen’s need to forgive him for hurting her and his willingness to woo her, and McBrien’s story would have been enough to win over her readers. One of the biggest issues I had with the book was the various parts of the story that didn’t fully develop into big emotional moments. Again, that’s my opinion, and the reason this book sits as a solid four.

If you’re a fan of second chance romances and all of their complications, then you will certainly love Kate McBrien’s For Your Love

In love and romance,

Moo U Hockey: https://hearteyespress.com/wotn#/moo-u-hockey/

Blurb
What if Romeo wore hockey skates, and Juliet was raised on a farm next door?

As a life-long Vermonter, there are three beliefs I’ve always held true:

1. Our family farm is everything

2. Hockey is a close second

3. The Todds next door are our sworn enemies

But this season will test everything I stand for.

I have an illicit side job that could cost me my hockey scholarship. And now Maggie Todd knows my secret. She’s waiting for the right moment to use it against me. But every time I face off against her, I learn things I shouldn’t want to know. Like how deeply her competitive streak runs, and how sexy that is. And how easy it is to make her blush… everywhere.

An Adler and a Todd cannot be lovers. Breaking that rule is like pulling a pin on a grenade–everything in my life could blow up. Can we surrender to these feelings… or will our families’ feud make us its next casualty?
