Why, yes, I am a doctor. Want me to kiss it better?

It’s always been an unacknowledged perk of the MD behind my name that it’s also a kitty magnet. I’ve got my pick of the litter. I only have one rule, and that’s to keep dating and work in different sandboxes. I learned that lesson the hard way once, and I wouldn’t have made it through med school if I needed to be told twice.

But everything about Mia makes me dumb.

Everything about the hot, bookish gynecologist makes me think NSFW thoughts that just won’t quit.

I try throwing myself into my work. Playing as much pickup soccer as I can handle. But it isn’t long before I’m breaking all my rules to get just one more taste of Mia.

We’re headed for a reckoning.

I’m about to earn a new degree: in love.

Excerpt

“I promise I won’t say a word. You can just pretend I’m  not here.”

His eyes narrow. When with no warning, he wraps an arm around my waist and pulls me into his body.

I’m average height for a woman, but he’s above average height for a man, and my eyes are level with his collarbone. I have to drag my eyes up the smooth, tan column of his throat, past his square, lightly bearded chin, over the twin mounds of perfection that are his lips, up the tiny bump in the ridge of his strong nose to his eyes.

And the look in them sends my pulse into a sprint. The unabashed adoration threatens to catapult me back in time. He’s always looked at me like this…like he could see the same magic I imagined.

But the naked need in them is new, and it keeps me firmly tethered to the present.

He runs a finger along my temple, tracing my hairline before he cups the back of my head with his hand. Gooseflesh ripples across my neck and runs up my scalp. My heart is beating out of my chest.

“I thought my memories of you were inflated, but they weren’t even close.” His voice is soft and deep and vibrates between us.

“In—” I have to clear my throat. “In what way?”

“Your skin is so soft. I’ve missed touching it. Seeing it.” His fingers sink into my hair, and his grip around my waist tightens.

“I see.” My body is one big pulse point, and I know he can feel it beating in time with his.

He’s looking at me like he’s seen all my sketches and knows he can have me anyway he wants.

And this is why I put on the worst underwear imaginable.

I knew this was going to happen, and Lord help me, ninety percent of me wants to let it.

I disentangle myself from the sweet cradle of his arms and step away. “You ready?” I plaster a smile on my face.

His eyes blaze with frustration, and he blows out a harsh breath. He drops his gaze to the floor and is quiet for so long that I’m afraid he’s going to say no. But then he looks up and claps his hands together with a resigned but good-natured smile lifting the corners of his lips. “Absolutely. You draw, I’ll play,” he recites it like a mantra and then retreats to the piano.

I stare longingly at his broad muscular back for a beat before I sit down.

As he circles the piano, he runs the flat of his hand over the top in a stroke that’s reverent. He smiles to himself and skims his fingers along the keys.

“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything,” He sits on the bench and  starts to play a bright, little melody one-handed while he talks. “Plato said that.”

“Well, tell me what Carter Bosch has to say.”

He bites his lip and then laughs as he starts to use both of his hands. I don’t recognize the song he’s playing, but for now it’s just background music for our conversation.“I would say music is the miracle that saved me.”

His eyes slide to me, and the look in them steals my breath. It’s the wide open vulnerability that comes with being in love…

“It saved you?” And now, I’m jealous of a piano.

He nods. His fingers dance lightly over the keys, playing scales, slowly, deftly. “Let me play for you.” His voice is deep, sensual, and a tremor of excited anticipation runs through me.

I nod.

Without taking his eyes off me, he starts.

“Oh,” I gasp in surprise when I realize it’s The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. – the same he played the first time he came here.

Just like that night, I’m defenseless against the light that his music bears. It seeps through the fractures in the thick armor I’ve put around the places and spaces that are most vulnerable.

I feel the thaw immediately. Just like that, a long, dark winter ends. Color and light spring to life illuminating all the things I haven’t been able to see for so long. Hungry to capture it, I open my eyes and reach for my sketch pad.

Carter is lost to the song too. His head is tilted back like he’s gazing at the ceiling, but his eyes are closed. He and the piano work in effortless unison to create what to my heart, mind, soul, and body, is the very sound of temptation, hope, and courage, and love.

When I hear it, I can do anything.

I’m not stupid. I know nothing lasts forever, but while I have this light, I’m going to revel in it.

No man has ever been able to rattle Isabel Ward. Until Aiden Hennessy walks in the door of her gym—ownership papers in hand.

To make matters worse, Isabel had a crush on him for the entirety of her teenage years. Doodles in her diary, and letters declaring her admiration—while never sent—haunt the absolute crap out of her now that she has to face him every single day.

She’s not the only one affected.

No woman has tempted Aiden to move on from the memory of his wife—until Isabel. But she’s too young, too feisty, too much of everything he should avoid.

✍🏻 Professor Romance’s 4 ⭐️ Review: Kendall Ryan’s The Rebel ✍🏻

Overall Review: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

When I heard that Kendall Ryan intended to write another hockey sports romance series, this girl was EXCITED. I really adored her Hot Jocks series, specifically the second book. Her newest book, The Rebel, is the first book of her Looking to Score series which centers around a different team, the Boston Titans. Let me give you a tip before reading The Rebel, get your hands on a short novella that precludes The Rebel. I didn’t remember seeing it, and I would have loved to have read it prior to this book because the first quarter of The Rebel was confusing. There is a big jump from her first chapter to the next chapter in time, and I found myself confused. Even more, there is a relationship between the heroine, Eden, and an ex that I wanted more details on. I kept waiting for those details within The Rebel, but you won’t find them at least to the depth I wanted them. Why is that important? Well, the ex, Alex Braun, plays heavily into Eden’s concern with her team. We find that she has given several years to that relationship, and to be honest, at no point in the story did I feel the emotional gravitas of their break-up. For this reader, I would have liked to better understand and feel emotionally committed to our heroine, and I found that to be a red mark against the story development.

Additionally, the hero of The Rebel, Holt, isn’t a hockey player. I repeat, Holt is not a hockey player. There are definitely hockey players in this story, and it revolves around a hockey team, but this story is more about Eden’s growth as the owner of the Boston Titans and a second chance with Holt, who is NOT a hockey player. I think that’s important to note because the blurb gives you the sense that Eden’s romance is sports romance. Quite frankly, it isn’t.

Why am I pointing to all of these things? The need to read the novella, the fact that the hero is not a hockey player…because I believed the story to be something else before reading it, and I don’t want readers to be disappointed when they are treated to a contemporary romance between the new owner of a hockey team and her security detail. The Rebel is more The Bodyguard than Miracle. Now, as a heroine, Eden is an independent, insightful heroine. She has learned to run the Titans under the tutelage of her grandfather. When he passes away, he leaves the team to her. Unfortunately, the fans and some of her players are not thrilled with the idea that a woman is running the team. I loved that Ryan has magnified a real life issue in her bookl. These issues still exist today, and in this story, it becomes the impetus for Holt to re enter her life as protection from the crazy fans. Their chemistry is clear from the first chapter, something that is undermined quickly (which makes for a very confusing first couple of chapters in this book – hence the reason you should read that novella). I do think Ryan should have found moments of danger for her heroine that Holt might have rescued her from. That happens once in the story which made Holt’s purpose seem ancillary. Thankfully, Ryan crafts a steamy burgeoning relationship between these two that distracts you from some of the holes in the story. However, I will be honest. As I was reading this book, I was wishing that I was a beta reader for Ryan as there were places in the story where I would have loved more development or a keener focus.

Do I suggest you read The Rebel by Kendall Ryan? Sure. But, again, I recommend finding the novella and reading it first. Additionally, it is a good story, but it didn’t feel as conceptually tight as her Hot Jocks stories. Will I read the next book, The Rival? Yes. Yes I will. Because that is the way with Kendall Ryan. She writes these interesting characters of which you want more story, and she gives it to you in later books. She just might not give you it exactly as you wish.

In love and romance,

Professor A

✍🏻 Blog Tour: Max Monroe’s Oops I’ve Fallen is Available. Grab this one NOW. ✍🏻

Oops, I’ve Fallen, an all-new laugh out loud romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author Max Monroe is available now!

Read my 5 ⭐️ review HERE.

If my time with Ryan Miller were a hit track on the radio, I imagine the lyrics would go something like this…

“We’re so different, but they say opposites attract. Oops, I’ve fallen, and my heart doesn’t want to come back.”

But, holy bingo night, is my attraction to the sexy, broody businessman so much more complicated than the chorus of a song.

His dad lives right next to my mom, and after the two of them suffered an unexplained accident while taking down holiday decorations, both Ryan and I were forced to become the only thirtysomething residents of Sunny Creek Village Independent Senior Living Community.

Temporarily moving in might seem like overkill for a fractured tailbone and a severely pulled groin muscle, but believe me, when your mom is as wild as mine and your dad is as cantankerous as Ryan’s, they need supervision to ensure they stick to doctor’s orders.

Constantly thrown together by the antics of our crazy parents and the tough-as-nails community enforcer, Betty Matthews, Ryan and I formed an alliance for the sole purpose of survival.

But I never expected to be so interested in finding out what he was hiding beneath his grumpy, serious demeanor. More than that, I never dreamed what I found would be the kind of man women sell their souls to the devil for.

Unfortunately, our little one-hit wonder on the airwaves has more to say before it comes to an end.

Although, finishing the outro to this song is a real doozy…

Tell me…what lyric rhymes with Oops, I’ve fallen for my future stepbrother?

RYAN

         Incoming Call Dad.

I’m tempted not to answer—very tempted, actually—but I do anyway. There’s a chance he needs me, given the circumstances of my visit in the first place, and I don’t want to leave him hanging.

      “Hey, Dad.”

      “Where are you?”

      “Baggage claim.”

      “Baggage claim where?”

      “Tampa.”

“What the hell, Ryan?” he bellows, making me close my eyes against the speech I know is coming. “I told you I’m good. You didn’t need to come here.”

“Yeah, well, your nurse said otherwise.”

“My nurse?” he questions. “Who? That old woman Jessica?”

“Old woman?” I retort on a laugh. “She was younger than you, Dad. By about twenty years.”

I had the pleasure of speaking to my dad’s nurse Jessica on FaceTime last night when I got a call that he had taken some sort of strange fall and had been escorted to the hospital in an ambulance.

“Whatever. She doesn’t know what she’s talking about.”

“Actually, she does,” I correct. “And so does your doctor, who also recommended that I come down and help you out while you’re recovering.”

“Recovering.” He scoffs. “You’d think I had a heart attack or some shit. I pulled a muscle in my damn balls.”

I shut my eyes briefly. “Groin muscle, Dad. You pulled your groin muscle.”

      “Same difference.”

I want to explain to him there’s a big difference, but in the name of not driving myself insane—or drawing the attention of everyone around me—I bite my tongue.

      “Go home.”

“Too late for that. I’m already here,” I answer on a chuckle and step up to the carousel to snag my black duffel from it.

He groans. “You’re my least favorite kid sometimes.”

I shake my head. “I’m your only kid, Dad.”

“Yeah, and I like you the least right now.”

I snort. Sal Miller is a seriously complex mix of blunt honesty, overwhelming affection, and way too much testosterone for a seventy-five-year-old man. The good news is that when he sounds like he’s being an asshole, I still know that behind all the flashy insults, he loves me. “Hey, Dad?”

      “What?”

“I’ll see you soon,” I say and hang up the phone before he can respond.

I scrub a hand down my face and take a deep breath. It’s moments like this that make me realize how much shit my mom had to put up with when she was still alive.

Mom, seriously, you were a saint.

With my duffel over my shoulder and my small carry-on rolling behind me, I walk out of the baggage claim area and toward the taxi line.

Normally, I’d rent a car, but since I had to book this flight so last minute and there’s apparently some kind of end-of-summer festival going on in downtown Tampa, there were no rentals available.

Hopefully, though, I’ll be able to arrange something tomorrow. Or else, I’ll have to cruise around in my dad’s Porsche while I’m here.

Not such a terrible fate for me, personally, but as far as taking him places with an injury to his damn groin muscle, I’m thinking his late-life-crisis Porsche won’t be ideal.

Once I make my way through the automatic doors, I spot the taxi line and count only three people in front of me. Not too bad.

While I stand in line, I pull my phone back out of my pocket and start scrolling through work emails. In just the short flight from New York to Tampa—two and a half hours, tops—my inbox has managed to accumulate over forty emails. Since the small regional plane didn’t offer Wi-Fi, I had to settle for working on my end-of-quarter reports.

On a sigh, I run my hand through my dark-brown hair and begin the task of sifting through what’s priority and what’s not.

Five emails done and the taxi line gets smaller by one person.

Another ten emails and the line gets shorter again.

By the time I reach the front, I slide my phone into my pocket and wait patiently as I spot a black taxi heading my way. The driver pulls the cab to a stop right in front of me, but just as I lift my duffel up and over my shoulder to carry it to the trunk, a rush of bright red careens past me.

“Oh, thank you so much!” a female voice calls toward the male driver who has just gotten out of the driver’s side to assist with bags.

But he shouldn’t be helping with her bags.

He should be helping with my bags.

         What the fuck?

“Uh, excuse me?” I question loud enough to catch her attention.

She looks up from her spot at the trunk. Her long, wavy red hair fans down her shoulders, and a few rogue curls hang over her face. Bright-blue eyes meet mine, and I can’t stop my brain from thinking, Well, goddamn.

Smooth skin, striking features, and a few freckles dotting her nose, she’s…stunning. The kind of woman that urges a double and triple take. Between her gorgeous face and the way her long legs look beneath her cutoff jean shorts, this woman is like the girl next door, but with secrets.

      Dirty fucking secrets.

“Were you talking to me?” she questions, tilting her head to the side when I don’t answer right away.

         Shit. Get it together.

Those blue eyes of hers are still locked with mine, searching them in confusion.

“Uh…yeah…actually,” I say, clearing my throat. I glance between the taxi and the taxi line. “You’re kind of stealing my taxi.”

      “I am?”

      I smirk. “Yeah.”

      “Did you call him yourself?”

My head jerks back in surprise. “Well, no, but—”

“So, you don’t know this driver?” she questions, looking between the driver and me. “Do you know him—” she pauses briefly, then asks “—what’s your name, sir?”

      “Bob.”

She smiles at him. “Bob, do you know this man?”

“No.” The driver shakes his head.

“I didn’t call him,” I explain on a sigh. “But I followed the rules and waited in this taxi line like everyone else.”

“You follow the rules a lot?” she asks, and I don’t know what to make of her question.

It sounds dirty and sexy yet sarcastic and accusatory at the same time.

      “Don’t most people?”

“I don’t.” She winks. “But you keep doing you, Barney Fife. The town of Mayberry needs you.”

Okay, she definitely just passive-aggressively called me a square.

“So, you’re just going to steal my taxi, then?” I question and glance over my shoulder to note the other people waiting in line like myself, but I quickly realize I’m the only one standing here. It doesn’t matter, though. My point is still valid.

      “Well, I guess that depends.”

      “On what?”

“Are you going to fight me for it?”

         Excuse me?

“Am I going to fight you for the taxi?”

      She nods.

“Um, no,” I answer on a laugh. What a weird fucking question. “I don’t make a huge habit of fighting women.”

“Okay then, I guess the answer to your question is yes, then.” She nods. Winks. Taps her hand on the top of the taxi. “Let’s hit it, Bob.”

Bob looks between me and the redhead, who is now getting into of the back seat of his taxi. But eventually, he just shrugs and hops back into the driver’s seat.

Then they’re off. Just like that.

And I don’t miss the way the mysterious, taxi-stealing redhead turns around in her seat to wave to me as they go or the fact that I’m feeling a lot less attuned to how pretty she is.

Her manners are apparently very, very ugly.

What in the hell just happened?

“She went home with someone else that night?”

Hearing the disbelief from my best friend’s mouth makes the events of my failed date sting that much more.

I would like to make it known, I have a lot more swagger than what it seems. I don’t normally ask a girl out, have her fail to recognize it’s a date, and then give me a high five–as if I’m her wingman–and take off with someone else.

No. Normally I’m the one taking the girl home but with Stella, it’s been one failed attempt after another and frankly, I’m done trying.

But thanks to my best friend getting married in Hawaii right before the school year starts, I’m stuck on a tropical island, watching Stella parade around in what she claims is a bathing suit.

Unfortunately, that’s not the worst of it, just the tip of the iceberg. Because what I think is going to be a relaxing vacation, avoiding the one girl I can’t seem to make it work with, has turned into a spectacle of being recruited as Stella’s doting fake fiancé so she can save face with an old “friend” from high school.

Now I’m navigating through purgatory while trying not to get turned on by the way she holds my hand or kisses my jaw. It’s all fake, that’s what I keep telling myself, even though it feels entirely too real.

The Audio Book will be Available on Release Day!!

✍🏻 Chase’s story is LIVE. K. Bromberg’s Hard to Lose is LIVE. Her hero, Gunner, will steal your heart. ✍🏻

Hard to Lose by K. Bromberg is now live!

New York Times bestselling author, K. Bromberg, brings you a romance about love, forgiveness, and living every day to the fullest.

I know finding and signing a military vet to the agency is a long shot–but it’ll be good press just letting him try out. That’s what I tell my family, rather than admit I can’t get the letter he wrote us five years ago out of my head.

But what I tell the bartender in his hometown is a lie. I know veterans protect each other. So I pretend to be a graduate student.

Sparks. Flame. Fire. I accidentally got in too deep.

I didn’t expect to develop feelings for Gunner Camden.

And there’s no way I can admit to my lies now, not without destroying what we share. So I’ll keep faking it.

***

There are two versions of me: before, and after deployment.

Back then I was a screwup kid. I’d lie, cheat, and steal my way out of everything. My only love was baseball.

After I started fighting, I found out there had been another path for me. One that involved my dream. But by then I had seen too much.

The old me was dead, so I put my dreams to rest, too.

Then Chase Kinkade walks into my bar and reminds me that life is meant to live. No regrets.

Fresh. Happy. Hopeful. I can start to see a new dream, with her.

But sometimes things are too good to be true… and dishonesty is the one thing I can’t forgive.

Meet Kristy

New York Times Bestselling author K. Bromberg writes contemporary romance novels that contain a mixture of sweet, emotional, a whole lot of sexy, and a little bit of real. She likes to write strong heroines and damaged heroes who we love to hate but can’t help to love.

A mom of three, she plots her novels in between school runs and soccer practices, more often than not with her laptop in tow and her mind scattered in too many different directions.

Since publishing her first book on a whim in 2013, Kristy has sold over one and a half million copies of her books across eighteen different countries and has landed on the New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists over thirty times. Her Driven trilogy (Driven, Fueled, and Crashed) is currently being adapted for film by the streaming platform, Passionflix, with the first movie (Driven) out now.

With her imagination always in overdrive, she is currently scheming, plotting, and swooning over her latest hero. You can find out more about him or chat with Kristy on any of her social media accounts. ✍🏻 Tracy Wolff and Avery Flynn’s Back in the Burbs is out now. Grumpy neighbor + a heroine at the end of her rope = a funny sweet rom-com ✍🏻

Back in the Burbs by Avery Flynn & Tracy Wolff is now live!

Ever have one of those days where life just plain sucks? Welcome to my last three months–ever since I caught my can’t-be-soon-enough ex-husband cheating with his paralegal. I’m thirty-five years old, and I’ve lost my NYC apartment, my job, my money, and frankly, my dignity.

But the final heartache in the suck sandwich of my life? My great-aunt Maggie died. The only family member who’s ever gotten me.

Even after death, though, she’s helping me get back up. She’s willed me the keys to a house in the burbs, of all places, and dared me to grab life by the family jewels. Well, I’ve got the vise grips already in hand (my ex should take note) and I’m ready to fight for my life again.

Too bad that bravado only lasts as long as it takes to drive into Huckleberry Hills. And see the house.

There are forty-seven separate HOA violations, and I feel them all in my bones. Honestly, I’m surprised no one’s “accidentally” torched the house yet. I want to, and I’ve only been standing in front of it for five minutes. But then my hot, grumpy neighbor tells me to mow the lawn first and I’m just…done. Done with men too sexy for their own good and done with anyone telling me what to do.

First rule of surviving the burbs? There is nothing that YouTube and a glass of wine can’t conquer.
